Game Review: ‘WILL: Follow the Light’

When it comes to walking sims, they pretty much all fall victim to monotony. The stories tend to always be the same, little else is going on, and most of the games copy one another. Tomorrowhead Studio’s WILL: Follow the Light may have fallen into this, BUT, have done it a little differently. WILL: Follow the Light follows Will, a lighthouse keeper who is searching for his son after a landslide took out most of their hometown. After learning that his estranged father took his son out to sea to fish during the disaster, Will sets sail in search of them, where he confronts the loss of his wife, his childhood, and his fears of turning into his father. Now, onto the game itself! When it comes to the controls, it’s mainly limited, but quick to learn, like most walking sims. I really enjoyed the game’s soundtrack, but I wish more of it played during the game, as it seems

Hantavirus OR How I learned to stop worrying and understand the Virus!

With sensationalist headlines and a plethora of memes, people can’t seem to stop talking about the Hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius, a Dutch cruise ship that’s experiencing a viral outbreak. So, why am I here talking about it? Well, it’s kind of in my wheelhouse (no pun intended) as we’re looking at a Zoonotic Disease, something I know a bit about in my past career life working with animals! Long story short, you have nothing to worry about. The long story: Hantavirus is known to science as it was first seen around the Korean War, where soldiers in damp, dirty living conditions exposed them to their unwanted campmates…rodents. Rodents like rats and mice, but also through critters like moles, etc, can carry the Hantavirus and spread it through bites, their saliva, urine, or scat. Usually, when it comes to the urine and scat, it’s an aerosol, meaning it’s in the air and you can breathe it in, usually in

‘Directive 8020′ is a new twist on the Dark Pictures’ series

Ever since the post-credits teaser at the end of The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me, fans of the series, myself included, were interested to see how the game’s series will look as its latest instalment, Directive 8020, will take the series to the stars. I want to thank Supermassive Games for allowing me the opportunity to check out their latest in terror! Directive 8020 takes place on the ship Cassiopeia, which is heading towards Tau Ceti f, an Earth-like planet that humanity hopes to colonize as Earth is dying. The mission goes sideways when and extraterestrial lifeform, and one of the crew members, jeopardizes the mission. Now, onto the game itself! Returning players to the series will have to take a moment, as the controls have slightly changed, and the gameplay is a lot different and requires new mechanics now. Don’t let this deter you, as the controls are not that difficult to learn. In true Dark Pictures’

200th Game Review! ‘Amanda the Adventurer’

Yes, this is the 200th game review I have done for Horror Fuel! I’m planning on doing something special to commemorate this occasion, fingers are crossed it will work out, but untill then folks, here we go with the 200th game review of Amanda the Adventurer! Amanda the Adventurer puts players in the shoes of Riley, who inherited their Aunt Kate’s home after her death. They go to the attic and start watching VHS tapes of the children’s adventure show Amanda the Adventurer, but the show’s main character Amanda becomes more and more sinister the more tapes Riley watches. Now, onto the game itself! The controls for this game are pretty basic, with only having to use controls to move and interact with objects and puzzles in the attic along with videos of Amanda’s show. The voice acting for the game is good along with the sound design and music, making childish moments whimsical, and darker moments foreboding. Gameplay-wise, depending

Game Review: ‘Dagon: Complete Edition’

H.P. Lovecraft’s works are hard to put into film or games properly. Attempts have been made over the years with some decent attempts, and some flat-out missing the point. Bit Golem and Feardemic have done something I have not seen done before, making a 100% faithful adaptation of not one but three of Lovecraft’s short stories! This is Dagon: Complete Edition. Dagon: Complete Edition puts players into one of Lovecraft’s most iconic short stories, Dagon where they can experience the story firsthand as it’s narrated to them by the tale’s protagonist. Now, onto the game itself! Dagon: Complete Edition‘s controls are impossible to not master as the game mainly involves the player observing their surroundings, zooming in on objects, and clicking on prompts. This is the main part of the gameplay, the player just controls the camera and when the narration stops and it’s allowed, you can look around to see if you can find any hidden elder signs that

Checking out some Halloween goodies from Dylan’s Candy Bar!

Halloween is coming, but why wait till then to enjoy some candy? There’s candy all over the place in stores at the moment and we can argue till the cows come home which candy is the best and assign them to tier lists, but unfortunately, there’s a lack of variety. If you want a variety and unique twists on some of your Halloween favorites, you’ll have to look online, and luckily for you, I discovered Dylan’s Candy Bar! I would like to give a big Thank You to Dylan’s Candy Bar for sending over some of their Halloween candies to try! First up is the Haunted House Sweets Bulk Bag! This bag contains a combination of milk chocolate spiced gummy candies and grape-flavored haunted houses. The bag was supposed to contain licorice black cats but mine didn’t have any, which was OK because I tend to avoid licorice candy anyway. Next up is the Fruity Gummy Skulls & Bones Bulk

Check out the new 15 minute gameplay video for ‘Hell is Us’

NACON and Rogue Factor are pleased to unveil a new 15-minute gameplay video for the action-adventure game Hell is Us, presented by Creative Director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête. The video provides the latest information on the game’s key features, from its narrative to its design features and combat system. Hell is Us takes place in a fictional country called Hadea, a hermit nation ravaged by civil war. Players take on the role of Remi, who was born in this country and decides to return to his homeland after many years abroad to find answers about his past while facing the country’s current dark secret: the recent appearance of supernatural creatures resembling ancient headstones and monuments in the region. Armed with weapons specially forged to fight these monsters, Remi must learn how to defeat them and use his equipment wisely. While combat is a part of the gaming experience, Hell is Us should not be considered a “souls” game. Players must learn to

Star in your own Noir story in ‘Shadows of Doubt’

Sometimes a good Noir film is what the doctor orders, a classic “Who Done it” story, a detective or private eye working on a blade’s edge between law and crime, a city full of danger and suspects, they don’t make good noir films anymore, but a game like Shadows of Doubt from ColePowerd Games and Fireshine Games will put you in the rain-drenched trench coat of a former cop turned Private Investigator. Shadows of Doubt is a first-person procedurally generated stealth game where players explore the open world of a city and help solve crimes to earn both money and Social Credits to earn the right to go to the retirement sector outside this sci-fi dystopian city. Now, onto the game itself! Controls for Shadows of Doubt are a bit tricky to master at first, even during the tutorial level, but not really anything bad. It’s just a bit annoying if you want to get right to playing. I like
