Horror Fuel

Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Horror Fuel (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on horrorfuel.com (the “Site”), what each category of cookie does, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember your choices (for example, your consent decision or your login session), measure how the site is used, or allow advertising partners to show and measure ads. Some cookies are set by us (“first-party”), others by third parties whose services we embed.

2. Your consent

When you visit the Site from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message is shown before any non-essential cookie is set. We use a Google-certified consent management platform (Google Privacy & Messaging) that is integrated with the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework. You can accept, refuse, or open “Manage options” to choose purposes and vendors individually. Refusing is as easy as accepting: the “Do not consent” button is shown next to “Consent”.

Outside those regions the consent message is not displayed, because local law does not require it. You can still block cookies in your browser at any time (see section 6).

To withdraw or change a decision you already made, delete the cookies for this site in your browser and reload the page: the consent message will appear again.

3. Categories of cookies we use

Strictly necessary

Required for the Site to work and for security. These are set without consent because the Site cannot function without them.

Examples: wordpress_logged_in_* and wordpress_sec_* (keep you signed in if you have an account), wp-settings-* (interface preferences), __cf_bm (bot protection provided by Cloudflare).

Consent record

Set by the consent platform to remember what you chose, so you are not asked on every page. If you refuse all optional cookies, this is the only additional cookie that is stored.

Analytics (optional)

Help us understand which articles are read and how visitors move through the Site, in aggregate. Set only after you consent.

Provider: Google Analytics 4. Cookies: _ga, _ga_G-F2YR833XBT (typically up to 2 years). Our analytics tags run with Google Consent Mode v2: analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization are all set to denied until you consent, and are updated only after your choice.

Advertising (optional)

Allow advertising partners to display, measure and personalise ads, and to limit how often you see the same ad. Set only after you consent.

Provider: Google AdSense (publisher ca-pub-5370976854652534). Cookies set by Google and its partners may include __gads, __gpi, IDE and conversion/measurement cookies. If you refuse, Google may still serve non-personalised or limited ads, which do not use your activity for personalisation. The full list of advertising partners that may receive consent signals is shown inside the consent message under “List of partners”.

Embedded media (optional)

Many articles contain YouTube videos. We load them only after you click on the video placeholder: until then no request is made to YouTube and no YouTube cookie is set. Once the player loads, YouTube may set cookies such as VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, YSC and PREF. Tick “Always display content from YouTube” on a video if you do not want to confirm each one.

4. Third parties

Third parties that may process data through the Site: Google (AdSense advertising, Analytics, consent management, YouTube player), Cloudflare (security and delivery). Each of them has its own privacy policy: Google, Cloudflare. For YouTube, see Google’s privacy policy.

5. How long cookies last

Session cookies are deleted when you close the browser. Persistent cookies stay for the period defined by their provider: consent record up to 13 months, analytics up to 2 years, advertising cookies up to 13 months (Google’s current retention), YouTube up to 2 years. We do not control the lifetime set by third parties.

6. How to control cookies

You can delete or block cookies from your browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). Blocking all cookies may break parts of the Site, such as staying signed in. For advertising specifically, you can also manage personalised ads in Google My Ad Center and review partners at Google’s partner sites page.

7. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when we add or remove a service. The date at the top always reflects the current version. Questions or requests about cookies and personal data: [email protected].
