Blu-ray Review: Cruising (1980)

A serial killer has marked gay men frequenting New York’s meat packing district; home to the S/M and leather scene, and he’s been dismembering them like a beastly butcher! Thankfully police officer Steve Burns (Al Pacino) is placed deep undercover onto the streets to try and draw the killer out. Soon our hero becomes almost completely isolated from his previous life as his new fabricated existence consumes him. Will Steve be able to catch the killer and remain who he is? Comprised of a stellar cast (besides the aforementioned Pacino; Paul Sorvino, Karen Allen, James Remar, Ed O’ Neill and the Maniac himself Joe Spinell round out the roster), a brutal mystery to solve, a deep-dive into a subculture not often examined, and the unbeatable grit and grime of late ’70s/early ’80s Manhattan; Cruising is a rock-solid horror film dressed in thriller clothing. Among all of that goodness, there is of course the ol’ elephant in the room that should

Amelia Dyer And Baby Farming

In the 1880s while citizens in England were fixated on the murders in London’s Whitechapel district, another serial killer was hard at work in the town of Reading (Red-Ing). This killer’s victims were infants and by the time Jack the Ripper was on his third victim, this killer well surpassed him. The killer’s name was Amelia Dyer, occupation, Baby Farmer, a profession related to wet nursing in Victorian England except for the children in a Baby Farmer’s care was sold to them. In the Victorian era in England, there was the Poor Law Amendment Act of 1834 caused a lot of heartaches, in short, it basically found ways to punish people who were poor. In this law it punished single mothers with illegitimate children by, lawfully, removing the financial responsibility to men who fathered illegitimate children. This added more stress for these mothers since at this time it was taboo for women to be single and have children; this also

With what sounds like a plot for a drama that you can only watch on Netflix is actually true. Actor Ashton Kutcher was in court today to give testimony in the trial of suspected serial killer Michael Gargiulo who the media at the time of the crimes called the “Hollywood Ripper”. Gargiulo has been accused of stabbing three women to death and attempting to murder a fourth before being arrested in 2008. Blu-ray Review: The Greasy Strangler (2016)

Prize-winning bullshit artist, and greasy food enthusiast Big Ronnie (Michael St. Michaels) lives with his son Big Brayden (Sky Elobar) and runs a walking tour of supposed disco hot spots around town. That’s all fine and dandy, but there is also a grease covered strangler stalking the streets…which is also Ronnie. As all that greasing and killing is going on, Brayden starts a relationship with a woman named Janet ( Elizabeth De Razzo), huge quantities of grease are consumed, we meet a man that wears a paper pig nose, cocks fill the screen (prosthetic, outrageous ones at that), Ronnie washes himself in Big Paul’s (Gil Gex) car wash…I mean basically a better synopsis would be; Penis, grease, murder. Look, I’m not going to mince words with you fine freaky fuckers…The Greasy Strangler will not…repeat WILL NOT be for everyone (some would argue anyone). It’s crude, disgusting, annoying…so who will it appeal to? Well, me for starters, but also lovers of

World’s End Killer Dies In Prison

Scotland’s most notorious serial killer and rapist, Angus Sinclair has died in prison. The 73-year old’s cause of death has not been released but over the last couple of years, his health has been declining as he had multiple strokes while he’s been incarcerated. Sinclair was called the “World’s End Killer” as it was later discovered that he was the killer in the “World’s End Murders” case in 1977 where Catherine Eadie and Helen Scott, both 17, were raped and murdered after being at the World’s End pub in Edinburgh. The case was cold but years later DNA evidence along with tips and good ol’ fashion police work determined that Sinclair was the suspect. Sinclair’s DNA matched the samples from the 1977 crime scene but in 2007 he was acquitted for the murders regardless. Unfortunately for Sinclair, in 2011 Scotland passed the Double Jeopardy Act that amended Double Jeopardy (a murder suspect can’t be tried twice for the same murder).

Netflix has snagged the rights to Joe Berlinger‘s Ted Bundy film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile starring Zac Efron as the prolific serial killer. The news comes just eleven days after the 30th anniversary of Bundy’s execution. John Malkovich, Jim Parsons, Haley Joel Osment, James Hetfield, Grace Victoria Cox, Jeffrey Donovan, Kaya Scodelario, Angela Sarafyan, Terry Kinney, and Dylan Baker round out the cast. Bundy killed young women across several states. In the end, Bundy confessed to killing 30. When asked by one agent if he really killed 30, Bundy replied: “add one digit to that (the 30
