Eli Roth Producing Slasher ’10-31′ He Calls “One of the scariest premises I have read in years.”

Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel, The Green Inferno) has signed on to produce the upcoming slasher 10-31 for Orion, which he calls “One of the scariest premises I have read in years.” Very rarely do you get a script that grabs you by the throat, holds you until the last page, and gives you nightmares after,” Roth said about the film’s script written by Ian Shorr and Peter Gamble, based on a story by Kathy Charles. Variety reports that “the script is about a young woman who takes her niece and nephew trick-or-treating and discovers a note inside a candy wrapper that says there’s a killer loose on her block.” Roth also said that “I don’t want to reveal too much, but this is one of the best, scariest premises for a horror movie that I have read in years.” Roth will produce alongside Roger Birnbaum’s Arts District Entertainment and John Zaozirny’s Bellevue Productions. Art District’s Michael Desman will serve

Movie Review: Haunt (2019)

From the brilliant writers behind 2018’s hit A Quiet Place comes Haunt, produced by horror icon Eli Roth. The film follows a group of friends to an extreme haunt, where they find themselves in a fight for their lives when the employees begin to kill the group off one by one. Let’s be honest, we’ve seen haunted attractions gone bad many times in the past. While Haunt turns up the heat, it still relies on an overused concept. At least directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods attempted to put some spin on it, sadly they didn’t put enough heart into it. Haunt‘s death scenes are brutal, but what else would you expect when Eli Roth is attached? They’re bloody, gory, and messy. The killers’ masks stand out and are a fresh take on the Halloween classic characters of the witch, ghost, devil, and clown. The masks did look good though. Don’t be surprised if a line of merchandise is released

Blu-ray Review: Hostel (2005) & Hostel Part II (2007) Horror Double Feature Blu-ray and DVD Combo

Hostel: Horny goofs/college students (same difference) Paxton (Jay Hernandez) and Josh (Derek Richardson) are trekking Europe with their Icelandic pal Óli (Eythor Gudjonsson) letting their dicks lead them to as much sex as humanly possible. Their exploits take them to Slovakia where they stay at an opulent hostel (itself one hell of a movie time fantasy if my experiences are to be trusted…and they are creeps, they are…) sharing a room with the gorgeous Natalya (Barbara Nedeljakova) and Svetlana (Jana Kaderabkova). As expected sex is had…but shit goes south six ways to Sunday when our protagonists find themselves at the mercy of the hostel’s true purpose; a place where unsuspecting travelers are lead to their doom as victims of an elite club of wealthy patrons who get to enact their deepest torture fantasies on live, unwilling victims! Will anyone make it out with their lives and bodies intact? One of the forerunners of the now rather cliche torture porn genre,

Eli Roth’s New Horror Movie Begins Filming This Month

Last year Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel, Hostel 2, The Green Inferno) went outside the horror genre for his movies The House with the Clock in its Walls, a family-friendly tale, and his revenge thriller Death Wish. We all knew that it wouldn’t be long before he would be returning to his horror roots and we were right. It appears he has a new horror flick in the works. Set to kick off filming in Boston this month, the still-untitled film was co-written by Roth and Jeff Rendell, according to Production Weekly. Here’s the interesting thing, Rendell was also the co-writer of Roth’s faux movie trailer for the faux movie Thanksgiving (below) which was featured in the movie Grindhouse from Miramax, who happens to be teaming up with Roth for this feature film. Could this be a feature film version of Thanksgiving? Maybe. We’ll have to wait to find out.

Blu-ray Review: The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018)

Young orphan Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) is the type of kid that takes to memorizing dictionaries rather than engaging in the folly of youth. Anyway, Lewis soon takes up residence with his eccentric clock obsessed uncle Jonathon (Jack Black) in his Victorian mansion…a mansion filled with living furniture and more magic than most households (which admittedly hover somewhere around zero on the magic-o-meter). It doesn’t take Lewis long to learn that Jonathan is a real life warlock, and his associate Florence Zimmerman (Cate Blanchett) is no slouch in that department either, which is a damn good thing as the house was once owned by an evil warlock named Isaac Izard (Kyle MacLachlan) who left a clock hidden within the mansion walls that can bring about doomsday when it’s countdown ends. Can our erstwhile heroes find the demonic timepiece before the end of the world…and before Izard himself arrives from the afterlife? Filled with magic, monsters, re-animated corpses, a heartfelt story-line involving
