Jess Franco’s Cult Film, MARQUISE DE SADE, To Get Restored And Remastered DVD Release

Jesus “Jess” Franco was considered one of the most dangerous filmmakers of the 70’s by the Catholic Church, and directed over 200 films (feature length and shorts) in his career. Now one of his cult classics is finally making its way to DVD. Full Moon Entertainment are giving Marquise de Sade (aka The Portrait of Doriana Gray) the full treatment, as they are restoring and remastering the film for a grand DVD release on October 24th. Appearing opposite Romay, as the young journalist, is Belgian born actress and showgirl, Monica Swinn. Doriana Gray is a young aristocrat, whose twin sister resides in a mental asylum. Deadworld Zombie Soda: Makers of Delicious Zombie Themed Concoctions.

I remember the first time I encountered any kind of horror themed soda, was during my employ at a mall based goth/punk/metal/etc. retailer. And to tell you the truth I can’t remember the names of said sodas, because they were frankly unimpressive. They were mediocre sodas with horror themed labels, and were more of a novelty than anything else. Over the years I’ve tried others and have found that most of the time the novelty and not necessarily the quality is the selling point. This definitely is not the case with Deadworld Zombie Soda. The last weekend of June, I attended Days of the Dead. It was there that I first saw the folks from Deadworld Zombie Soda peddling their wares. I was there the entire weekend and found myself circling back around to their table many times. On the final day I gave in and decided to pick a few, from their 12 varieties, to make up a 4-pack.

Independence Day: A Landmark Disaster

Cynema is not a film review series. There are plenty of those online. Once in awhile a film comes along that defines everything about my Cynema concept. The latest is Roland Emerich’s two decades later (Why? That’s addressed later) sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence. It’s hands down one of the worst films of the last five years. I knew what I was getting myself into. This is one of those movies that you can easily dismiss by saying “what did you expect? It’s okay, it’s not the worst thing ever. Just go with it.” They got my money. However as I write this I continue to fight. I resist. I will not go into the darkness quietly…I had to get my Bill Pullman Henry V/Braveheart speech moment because a a number of people in this cynical mess try for one. I counted at least four times when someone tried to give some kind of “let’s kick ass” mini speech or pep

Road to Death House Part 2

I’ve attended a lot of Hollywood meetings. Creative. Business. Social. In every one of these, ideas and projects get thrown around. People get excited. Plans are made. I usually wait until the very end to ask the most important question. If it is not mentioned up front, you kind of have your answer, but it’s a game in the end to see if you’re as smart as you think you are. That question is: Is the financing in place? You get either leaden silence as if you committed some grave social faux pas, or you get the “well, we are talking to so and so…” Translated: there is no money. Don’t believe the Hollywood fables of making a film for $15,000 and making $400 million. With all legends there is a grain of truth, but like an oyster makes a pearl, it’s slathered with layers of mucus and shit. No, your $7000 movie is not going to make a million.

Video Game Review: Call of Duty Black Ops 3

Or as I like to call it “BLOPS TRES”. “Call of Duty Black Ops 3” is the latest installment in the long running series. What started out as the original WW2 shooter became the highly innovative modern shooter and has now become the financial juggernaut of first person shooters but because of this the originality in the series has been dwindling over the past few years and although “BLOPS TRES” promised to reinvigorate the series it unfortunately has not and instead is another dry installment to add to the ever growing collection of boring games that is the “Call of Duty” series. Let me start this out just by saying I liked the “Call of Duty” franchise. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every game it was not until recently where I’ve started falling out of love with it. After the mess that was “COD: Ghosts” and the strangeness of “Advanced Warfare” I was really feeling fatigued with the series but when they

Video Game Review: Thief

“Thief” where do I begin? “Thief” is a 2014 reboot of the PC exclusive stealth series of the same name that was popular back in the 90’s. The series was loved for it’s open world, innovative stealth mechanics and a likable main protagonists. Unfortunately publisher Square Enix and developer Eidos Montreal threw all that out and replaced it with black archaic background #246980, strange game-play and generic grisly archetype #410. As I am writing this review I am listening to Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” which only makes me more depressed to write this review because I really liked the “Thief” series. the original series came out at around the time first person shooters were starting to evolve. We got some of the biggest most influential shooters to date! “DOOM”, “Half Life”, “Halo” and “Thief” , not only did this game have nostalgia credit behind itself but it also had a really good developer handing it. Eidos Montreal who were responsible

A Whole New Thing: When a Remake Isn’t a Remake

It’s Not A Remake The Thing, 2011, is NOT a remake. It is a prequel. I just did more than the entire Universal Studios marketing department with that clarification. John Carpenter got royally screwed on his 1982 masterpiece. Some call The Thing his greatest film. Others, like me, call it one of the greatest films ever made for any genre. Carpenter’s film was buried in 1982 by a candy pilfering alien and Spielberg. Between a lackluster marketing campaign by Universal Studios and America’s pop sugar desire for heart glowing aliens, The Thing, 1982, never really had a chance. Carpenter himself saw the handwriting on the wall after exiting a plane to giant advertisements for ET: The Extraterrestrial. “We’re done,” he lamented. However home video and cable gave his film a new life, and eventually the tortoise caught up and passed the alien. Today, Carpenter’s film is regarded as timeless and as mentioned, by many, his best. The film is deserving

Outlast 2 Confirmed

One of the scariest games of all time is getting a sequel! Although it was teased last year it wasn’t until this morning where Canadian game developer Red Barrels confirmed that they are making a sequel to their successful survivor horror game “Outlast” nicely titled “Outlast 2”. Not much information has been released other then that this game will deal with the fallout of the events of the first game and that the night vision camera will return. “Outlast” was a first person survival horror game that had you playing a photojournalist tipped off by an unnamed source that very “evil” things are happening at an asylum up in Colorado. Once you arrive there you discover something far beyond evil is happening and now you must run and hide for your life and escape the horrors of the asylum. I’m going to be writing a review for the game tomorrow so if you are interested in “Outlast” definitely check back

Cynema in Comedy & Film Finance

Show me The Money I read an article on Markus Persson, the billionaire developer of Minecraft and why the media says he hates being a billionaire: https://recode.net/2015/08/29/minecraft-billionaire-markus-persson-hates-being-a-billionaire/ Now I don’t know how much of this was taken out of context. I would think with that kind of expendable income, I could find a few things to at least occupy my time instead of whining to the media on how unhappy I am. Then again, I’m not a billionaire so there’s that. No doubt every jackass with a story is after you to give them money and that’s gotta be depressing. Everyone wants you, but they don’t, so yeah, it seems like a vicious circle for the person with money. And a pain in the ass. So my question to him and other people with money falling out of their assholes (and this has everything to do with Cynema, Ross Patterson and his two comedy films FDR American Baddass and Helen
