Game Review: ‘Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open’

Learning about other cultures through their ghost stories has always been something I enjoy doing on cold quiet nights, and the experience of these tales through interactive entertainment is always a treat. Cellar Vault Games and Chorus Worldwide have now brought the fusion of the myths and ghost stories of Malaysia with a mix of Chinese culture all in one package with Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open. Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open follows a young girl named Ting, who has an “imaginary” friend named Xiu, well, Ting’s parents think she’s not real but in reality, Xiu is a ghost as Ting has the gift of a third sight. Ting must navigate her daily life at school and around home with this gift as her family is falling apart, and Ting is trying to fit in and make friends while having to deal with spirits either coming to her for help…or to cause trouble. Now, onto the game itself.

Game Review: ‘The Mortuary Assistant: Definitive Edition’

The viral horror phenomenon that took the internet by storm has now come home to consoles, spreading dreadful fear and morbid curiosity in The Mortuary Assistant: Definitive Edition. The dry spell of horror releases has been broken and after reviewing two horrible games recently, this gem has restored my faith in the genre of horror gaming! The Mortuary Assistant: Definitive Edition puts players in the shoes of Rebecca, who just landed a job at a mortuary that is the center of local urban legends. After being called in late one night, Rebecca quickly learns that the legends are true. Now, onto the game itself! When it comes to the game’s controls, it’s a bit difficult as the game originally was meant for keyboard and mouse, but I found using the D-pad made some of the mechanics work a little easier. Playing with headphones is a must for this game as there are ambient sounds that mess with you as you

Game Review: ‘White Day 2: The Flower That Tells Lies’

Two years ago I reviewed White Day: A Labyrinth Named School which I gave a 7/10 as I thought the game was OK. Now PQube is back with White Day 2: The Flower that Tells Lies and Woo Boy, this was a rough one. White Day 2: The Flower that Tells Lies takes place the next day following the events of the first game in an episodic format where three stories intertangle as three high school students and a former Teacher sneak into the school to find answers about the events that occurred on campus and the secrets the school holds. Unfortunately, during my playthrough there was nothing positive I can say about this game. To be blunt, right from the first cinematic, I knew this was an unfinished (potentially asset-flipped) mess, and the more I played, the more that feeling was validated. To start, the cinematics of the game are out of sync, BAD. I attribute that to how

Game Review: ‘Plastomorphosis’

It’s been a while since I’ve done a game review no fault of my own, just not many horror games being released at the moment, but I don’t think I needed to be punished for it! Plastomorphosis by Vidygames and Samustai Limited was supposed to be a callback to retro survival horror games, but all it did was give me a headache, literally. Plastomorphosis follows an unnamed character who is trying to return to their home city after they were evacuated from it due to dark energy radiation, at least that’s what I think is happening, the game is not quite clear on this. that’s one of the issues I’m having with the game but before I continue with the negatives let’s get some of the positives out of the way. The game has options when it comes to controls, you can have either modern controls OR classic tank controls. The soundtrack is pretty good as it reminds me of
