Movie Review: Watch Me Sleep (2023) – Wild Eye DVD

Our pal Sean (Darren McAree) has a lot on his plate… he’s a recovering alcoholic who’s abusive mother has just kicked the bucket… though on that last one our hero isn’t quite sure. To that end he signs up for a service that sticks a camera in a loved one’s coffin so family members can grieve longer… usually for a period of four weeks… but Sean is desperate for a longer look-see (by like eleven more months) so he throws money at the problem which ensures that will go down without a hitch. While initially quite gung-fucking-ho over spying on Mommy Deadest, Sean can’t bring himself to log in for the longest, but eventually a confrontational AA meeting gives him the courage to smash that button… and before long mum’s postmortem movement is becoming ever more obvious! Writer/Director John Williams (Creatures of the Night, Crispy’s Curse) delivers a rather skin-crawling premise with Watch Me Sleep… watching a family member decay

Movie Review: Busted Babies – Blood Sick Blu-ray

Kasper Meltedhair’s Busted Babies is going to be a real bitch and a half to try and explain to you cats n’ creeps, but here fuckin’ goes… “______” (Kasper Meltedhair), is a strange lady possessing horns, polka dot skin, and strap-on bat wings. Our heroine can also turn babies to glass… which is of interest to a dancing gaggle of suited dudes that gain immortality when showered in the broken glass babies… Things get stranger as our non-linear, fever-dream narrative takes us through a world of bizarre folks (creatures?) that inhabit a world of odd punk rock shows, bizarre parties, and absolute brazen insanity. They way this psychotronic whirlwind is presented is as imaginative as it is mind-shatteringly weird. Kasper Meltedhair goes all in on creating a world unto it’s own, filtered through a low-fi, S.O.V. style that at times come across like our favorite drive-in flicks of yore (complete with bands providing padding) mixed with animation, unique yet simple

Movie Review: Monster Mayhem Collection – Film Masters Blu-ray

Film Masters have gone and bundled up a monstrous mess of Drive-In sci-fi flicks from years past and put them on Blu-ray for all of us lovers of the cinematic bizarre to slap our putrid peepers upon! So let’s begin our joltin’ journey into the Monster Mayhem Collection with the first feature (of which there are four present over two discs), 1958’s Frankenstein’s Daughter… Sleazy suburban mad scientist Oliver Frank (Donald Murphy) is only all too ready to continue the work of his grandfather, Dr. Frankenstein… well, in his spare time anyway… most of the time he works with his colleague, Prof. Carter Morton (Felix Locher) who is working on a formula that could end all disease. Of course ol’ Ollie has other plans for it, and begins slipping doses of it to Morton’s teenage daughter, Trudy (Sandra Knight) which turns her into a monster in a swimsuit that runs amok in the P.M. while continuing to work on his

Movie Review: The Paranormal (1998) – Visual Vengeance Blu-ray

Something preternatural is taking place within the wicked walls of The Englewood theater down Missouri way! Enter: Kyle Jennings (Todd Norris, who directed and co-wrote the picture along with C. Wayne Owens… who has a roll in the film as well), a paranormal investigator desperate to prove his scientific worth to the university he’s employed by. Kyle, along with his Department Head/believer in the supernatural, Cass Charbonneau (Lisa Winegar), head out to the eerie Englewood (located in his ol’ hometown no less), and finds the theater to be managed by his old high school gal pal, Lynne Meredith (Audrey Crabtree)… who is one of two employees of the establishment along with projectionist Johnnie (Gina Tarantino). The ghostly presence wastes no time, as shortly after our hero’s arrival a campy action/horror film called Z is for Zombie begins playing on it’s own and the doors to the outside world are locked tight by an outré force! To make matters worse, during

Movie Review: Colony Mutation (1995) – Visual Vengeance Blu-ray

Scientist Meredith Weaver (Anna Zizzo) catches her hubby Jim Matthews (David Rommel) having an affair so she does what anyone would do in that situation… she infects him with her latest experiment that results in severe, uncurbable mutation. Meredith’s problem soon becomes everyone’s dilemma as her douche of a husband gains the ability to send forth monstrous versions of his various and sundry body parts to do the ol’ murder biz on anyone they choose… and given Jim’s ever increasing desire to eat live meat, that body count is going to rise quickly! Tom Berna’s Colony Mutation is like an early Cronenberg flick minus the Canadian tax breaks… but lack of funds did nothing to reduce this feature’s imagination! David Rommel is fantastic as our sleazy, horny, main character, and he really sells both the character’s smarminess as well as his ramping psychosis… not to mention how he relishes in his body’s new found ability to fuck up everyone’s day

Movie Review: The Yeti (2026) – Well Go USA Blu-ray

The Alaska Territory, 1947… it’s cold… real cold… it’s also up to it’s ass with an unreasonable amount of Yeti-committed murder. Among the possible victims of the beast’s absolutely ape-shit rampage are an adventurer, Hollis Bannister (William Sadler, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, The Shawshank Redemption, Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight), and an oil magnate by the name of Merriell Sunday Sr. (Corbin Bernsen, The Dentist and it’s sequel, the Major League franchise)… the son of which, Merriell Sunday Jr. (Eric Nelsen, 1883), assembles a rag-tag group of adventurers, including Bannister’s estranged daughter Ellie (Brittany Allen, The Boys), to bring ’em back alive… or get their ass handed to them by a crazed cryptid! Co-writers/Directors Gene Gallerano and William Pisciotta really go for the gold with The Yeti cats n’ creeps! What could be a standard creature feature becomes anything but under their guidance as we are thrown into a pulp fantasy adventure starring a Doc Savage and his

Movie Review: Vampire Time Travelers (1998) – Visual Vengeance Blu-ray

Two teens go on a search for a stash of porno mags and accidentally revive the dormant vampire, Lorelei (Jillien Weisz)… and honestly, who of us haven’t experienced similar in our youth? Meanwhile, Sue Anne Marie (J.J. Rodgers), and her fellow sorority pledges, have gathered for the normal initiation shenanigans. How will those two pulse-pounding events collide? Well Sue’s sister just so happened to fend of a vampire invasion of the sorority in the past, and now Lorelei is dead-set on getting revenge by creating a cadre of fang bangers out of the assembled sisters. But… Lorelei kinda sucks at being a vicious vamp as her years in an oblong box have lead to her not being able to transform into a bat properly and only able to make blood withdraws from her victim’s butt cheeks! Will Sue be able to finally put a stake in this shit and call it done… or will she succumb to the teeth of

Movie Review: Saurians (1994) – Visual Vengeance Blu-ray

A construction company blasts a massive hole in the side of a stone quarry which has exactly two results; 1. The air fills with the smell of the Earth’s farts, and 2. Dinosaurs are awakened from deep underground and decide to go on a crazed rampage… and the two things are related! Springing from the creative tar pits of Writer/Director/star Mark Polonia (Cocaine Werewolf… and many, many more), Saurians asks the eternal question of what if Irvin S. Yeaworth Jr.’s Dinosaurs! was relocated to rural Pennsylvania… honestly, we’ve asked more bizarre questions ‘round here… Anyway, produced on a shoe-string and shot on 8MM, Polonia’s film is long on charm and short on technical expertise… which always equals a good time when parking your arcane ass around the ol’ terror tube. Adding to the whole affair are a couple of fun, hand crafted dinosaurs (which appear as various (and differing) puppets and larger props) that, while lacking the deft touch of

Movie Review: The Ugly (1997) – Unearthed Films Blu-ray

One rainy eve, Dr. Karen Schumaker (Rebecca Hobbs) arrives at a dilapidated high-security mental institution to begin her assessment of serial killer Simon Cartwright (Paolo Rotondo)… and what an institution it is, ruled over by orderlies that look and act like thugs and watched over by the strange Dr. Marlowe (Roy Ward) who’s odd demeanor, outre fashion sense, and opulent koi pond-surrounded office make him a real stand out among the peeling paint and exposed wires of his stompin’ grounds. Anyway, our heroine goes on a journey through Simon’s troubled past… a past that includes an absolute aversion to being picked on, an abusive mother, and a high body count… which truth be told aren’t unreasonable things to encounter in a serial killer’s past… but what really begins to make Karen’s ears stand up is Simon’s insistence that some outside force whispers in his ears to do all that murder biz! Writer/Director Scott Reynolds delivers a stylish thriller (with a

Movie Review: The Actor’s Curse: A Tale of Twisted Fate (2026)

Recently a new arcane anthology flick was laid before my eerie eyeballs… The Actor’s Curse: A Tale of Twisted Fate, to be precise… so let’s give it the ol’ revoltin’ review! Ahhh showbiz… it can be glitzy and glamorous, and it can be sleazy and laden with debauchery… naturally we are going to go with that latter portion, with a nice dash of my personal fav, supernatural shenanigans! We begin with Ye olde Wraparound Segment in which a frustrated actor (Joe DeBartolo) decides to do a little bit of soul searching and put pen to paper to craft some terror tales about the various types of shit-heels he’s encountered in his career (all presented in shorts from various directors)… Derek Braasch’s The Director’s Demise concerns a real shit wipe of a director (Robert Gutierrez-Spagnoli) who brings in a new actress who is more than game to partake in his brand of hostile filmmaking… but is she just an actress with
