Joel Edgerton, who wrote, starred in, and directed 20015’s The Gift, is now in negotiations to star in Trey Edward Shults’ thriller It Comes at Night, Variety reports. Edgerton will portray a husband, trying to protect his wife and son from a malevolent, mysterious presence terrorizing the family right outside their doorstep.

David Kaplan will be producing alongside A24. Shults both wrote and directed the indie film Krisha, which won the Grand Jury award at last year’s South By South West film festival.

We will update you when we know more.
