There’s a rising star in the genre, but he’s not human. For those of you who saw 2015’s amazing film The Witch, you know who Black Philip is. The creepy, horned black goat was much more than he appeared. It turns out that The Witch was just his debut. The 200-pound goat, whose real name is Charlie, has now starred in his second horror film, the highly anticipated film It Comes At Night (review), from director Trey Edward Shults which is now in theaters. Both films were released by A24. Coincidence? In an interview with MIC stars of It Comes at Night, Christopher Abbot and Riley Keough, admitted that the goat in the film is indeed Charlie. It was literally the same goat,” Abbot said. “He or she wasn’t as featured in our movie, but [it was the] same goat actor. It must just be A24’s goat. It’s in the mailing room, too. That’s a fun little fact. People are

While Get Out still has my vote for best horror film of the year so far, It Comes At Night get’s a more dubious accolade; most misleading marketing. Most of the movie is set during the day, the titular It is refers to a few nightmares experienced by one of the characters, and the doors slamming shut on their own and monsters seemingly hiding in the shadows aren’t in the film at all. As opposed to the similar titled It Follows S. T. D monster (is the D for demon?) there is no tangible threat referring to the films title. Sure, there are some extended nightmare scenes but to me thats kind of stretching it. No, instead this is one of those horror movies where the monster is actually us all along, men driven to madness through desperation and fear. Great, that’s fine, that’s dandy, but then please don’t fucking try and sell it to me as a monster flick.

Following the world premiere of It Comes at Night from acclaimed director Trey Edward Shults at this past weekend’s Overlook Film Festival, A24 has unveiled a new trailer. The film centers on a “civilization-destroying pandemic,” with a father, a mother and teenage son staying in a remote house. “When an intruder arrives, pleading for help, they are forced to choose between kindness and potential infection. And this is one killer infection.” Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, the tenuous domestic order he has established with his wife and son is put to the ultimate test with the arrival of a desperate young family seeking refuge. Despite the best intentions of both families, paranoia and mistrust boil over as the horrors outside creep ever-closer, awakening something hidden and monstrous within him as he learns that the protection of his family comes at the cost of his soul. Joel Edgerton, Riley Keogh, Christopher Abbot, Carmen Ejogo,
