Blu-ray Review: Munster, Go Home! (1966)

If you are of a certain age (read: old as all fuckity-fuck), then you doubtless grew-up with the fabulous freaky Munster family courtesy of mid-morning re-runs on TV. As a kid I loved every hauntingly hilarious minute of their sensational show… but said show wasn’t enough to contain the ghoulish goings-on, so in 1966 a fearsome feature film was created… and this time the Munsters came at ya in creepy color for the first time! Munster, Go Home! (the film in question, ‘natch) sees the family’s patriarch, the Frankenstein monster surrogate Herman (Fred Gwynne), inheriting an ancestral family home down jolly ol’ England way! So the whole grizzly gang: the aforementioned Herman, his vamp wife Lily (Yvonne De Carlo), her father/Dracula stand-in Grandpa (Al Lewis), and his werewolf son Eddie (Butch Patrick)… along with their perefctly normal niece (who’s appearance is monstrous to them) hope on a boat and set sail across the putrid pond! But things aren’t going to

The 25 Best Women Of Horror (My Opinion)

February is Women of Horror month! These ladies screamed their way into our hearts on the big and little screens and charmed us by their performance that stood the test of time (or will). Sigourney Weaver She has earned the title of ‘Queen of Sci-fi’ due to most of her outstanding performances can be seen in many sci-fi movies but she’s also started in many legendary horror movies. She’s best known for her character Ellen Ripley in the Alien franchise. She’s also known for her role a Bill Murray’s squeeze in the Ghostbusters films. She’s on the list because even though she’s a woman in a horror movie, she takes charge of situations and

Movie Review: Satan’s Cheerleaders is the Perfect Blend of Laughs and Lucifer!

Satan’s Cheerleaders (god damn, that’s a great title…this flick has a lot to live up to) begins with our gorgeous gaggle of “rah rah” heroines frolicking on the beach as a porn soundtrack cum disco anthem, with a constant refrain of ‘all for one, and one for all’, assaults our ears like nobodies business (and for a real meta moment, the cheerleaders say the phrase as the soundtrack sings it). Anyway, run time eating assery ensues for a bit before we get down to brass tacks; namely the girls get taken on an unexpected detour on their way to the ‘Big Game’ by the school’s bedazzled denim shirt wearing janitor/bus driver, who just so happens to be in charge of finding that hoary ol’ chestnut, the virgin sacrifice required for some such skullduggery by the local Satanic cult (and judging by how these foxy ladies have acted in the previous thirty minutes of film, this may be a harder task
