4K Ultra Review: Vigilante (1982)

Industrial repairman Eddie Marino (the great Robert Forster) has a real problem on his grease-stained hands. You see, his wife Vickie (Rutanya Alda) got slappy with a gang of denim-clad Warrior wanna-bes called The Headhunters, and they returned the favor by using her as a pin-cushion, and blasting the couple’s son Scott (Dante Joseph) to pieces with a double-barrel shotgun. To make matters worse, The Headhunters are cleared of the murder charge thanks to some legal loopholes, and in a bizarre twist of fate, Eddie actually goes to jail for assaulting the judge. All is not lost however, as Eddie’s steel workin’ pals are a covert group of vigilantes lead by tough-ass mother fucker Nick (the legendary Fred “The Hammer” Williamson), and when he gets back on the streets Eddie and the boys are going to bring serious bodily harm to every mother fucker that’s done him wrong! Maniac (1980) – 4K UHD Blu-ray Review

Frank Zito (Joe Spinell) didn’t exactly have the best of childhoods what with growin’ up the son of an abusive prostitute and all…but damn it; a boy’ll love his mommy no matter her faults. You can just imagine how ol’ Frank feels when his mother finally buys the farm courtesy of a car accident…yup, he’s all broken up all right…so much so that he wanders ol’ Manhattan-town and murders rando women (hookers, disco chics, nurses…Tom Savini…wait, what?!!) whom he scalps and places their hairy brain flaps on top of mannequins that he keeps littered around his unreasonably terrifying (and purple) studio apartment. All this horror biz does get put on hold here and there however when Frank meets a gorgeous photographer (Caroline Munro)…a girl that makes him function like an actual human being…but how long will that last? Cult Classics ‘Maniac’ And ‘Zombie’ Added To Messed Up Puzzles

Cult classic horror films are not just popular because of the cheap gore effects, campy acting, and boobs, the poster art alone for many of these films are masterpieces to those with an eye for horror art. Messed Up Puzzles is a company that takes these artistic pieces and turns them into jigsaw puzzles that will make any ghoul happy! These Not Safe For Work (NSFW) puzzles feature the art of films only without the title getting in the way. Recently added to their growing collection are the 1980 slasher Maniac and the 1979 Italian zombie flick Zombie (also goes by Zombi 2, and Zombie Flesh Eaters). Maniac follows a serial killer in New York City who murders women and then removes their scalps and affixing them to mannequins. The film’s poster was controversial at the time and fell victim to heavy altering and censorship when shown overseas. Fans of this film will be happy to know that there is
