In a world where we can’t agree on anything, there is something we can indeed agree on… B-Movies are awesome! For being out there in storytelling, bad special effects, campy acting, and let’s face it just fun to watch, B-Movies or films like them are always pleasant to watch anytime. What’s better than a B-Movie? The fact that many of these films are in the public domain and can be watched for free on sites like YouTube! Here are 4 films you can watch right now! Invasion of the Saucer Men (1957) This film takes place in a small town that is suddenly invaded by aliens and is told through three different storylines, a teenage couple (Steven Terrell and Gloria Castillo) who accidentally hit an alien with their car, two drifters (Frank Gorshin and Lyn Osborn) visiting town trying to make money, and Air Force officials (Douglas Henderson and Sam Buffington) trying to cover up the landing of the flying

Blu-ray Review: Universal Horror Collection: Volume 3 (1939 – 1941)

Straight up; the last two Universal Horror Collections brought to us courtesy of those wonderful warlocks over at Scream Factory have been nothing if not a whole monstrous mess of fright flick fun (don’t believe me? Head here and here and read my thoughts on the matter for your own sinister self!)! Let’s see if Volume 3 lives up to the legacy of it’s predecessors! First up we travel to the not-so-jolly land of 15th century England with 1939’s Tower of London! Hunchbacked Richard Duke of Gloucester (Basil Rathbone), is sixth in line in succession to the throne, and he is pretty pissed about that let me tell ya. So what does that damned deformed dastard… err, bastard do to remedy that situation? Why he begins secretly eliminating those ahead of him in line with the help of his putrid pal Mord (Boris Karloff), the bloodthirsty town executioner (equally deformed as his boss; in this case with a club-foot). Things

Blu-ray Review: The Fly Collection (1958 – 1989)

Those magnificent bastards at Scream Factory have gone and done it; they’ve shoved every damn Fly flick into a boxed set, packed them with features, and set them loose to be lapped up by horror hounds everywhere… and I’m going to put a revoltin’ review on the whole shebang! Let’s kick things off with 1958’s The Fly… because that’s the first film in the series, and it would be stupid to do anything else… Andre Delambre (David Hedison) is flat as a pancake after being crushed to shit and back in a mechanical press, and his wife Helene (Patricia Owens) is the one responsible… but like an attention whore’s Facebook relationship status, it’s complicated. Fortunately we learn just how complicated as she recounts the strange events leading to Andre’s trip to the permanent press cycle to his brother Francois (Vincent Price, the one and only baby… ) and Police Inspector Charas (Herbert Marshall). You see ol’ Andy had been balls

John Hillcoat’s ‘Witchfinder General’ Remake Announced At Cannes

Witchfinder General is the next genre film getting a remake. Deadline reported the news from Cannes that John Hillcoat (The Road, Lawless) will be directing the new version written by Jon Croker (Woman In Black 2) with Nicholas Winding Refn (Drive, Neon Demon) serving as producer. In the 1968 original, directed by Michael Reeves and starring Vincent Price, a young soldier seeks to end the evils caused by a vicious witch hunter. I am excited to work with fellow filmmaker Nic Refn, a maverick auteur and who, together with Rupert Preston, have been fully committed to independent cinema over the years. I’m drawn to the dynamic departures behind this remake,” says Hillcoat. “The idea of a world pushed to extremes where fear preys upon all, unleashing religious fanaticism, rival factions, tribalism, heretics, and witch hunts… feels strangely familiar in today’s world.” Refn and Rupert Preston will be producing through Bynwr.com and Sunrise Film along with Hillcoat’s Blank Films. Take a

Vincent Price – The Voice, Face, and Icon of Horror

Years and years ago during one Halloween, my dad put on Michaels Jackson’s Thriller album. The end of the title track features a devilish laugh. I didn’t know who the laugh was performed by and I was too young to realize what the song was about, but I remember my older brother bursting into tears at the demonic cackle and run out of living room to find comfort in the safety of his bedroom. It is one of my favorite memories…especially because it didn’t only happen once (mom and dad thought it was hilarious). For those of you who haven’t heard the laugh, stop reading, go to this link and check it out. That voice belongs to the icon, the legend, Vincent Price. Price has been the face and voice of horror for decades and continues that legacy long after his death. Obviously this talented actor’s career spanned other genres, but he is the indisputable king of horror. Vincent Leonard

Horror Classic Witchfinder General To Be Remade

Now, 1968’s Witchfinder General, also known as The Conqueror Worm, originally starred horror icon Vincent Price and directed by Michael Reeves, has been added to the long list of movies being remade over the next two years. Witchfinder General, based on the 1966 novel by Ronald Bassett of the same name, centers on a young soldier determined to end the evils done by a vicious and greed driven witch hunter. Nicholas Winding Refn, known for his films Drive and the upcoming film The Neon Demon, will be heading the project. There is no word yet who will be in the director’s chair or who will be cast. But whoever is cast in the role of Matthew Hopkins, Price’s role, has some big shoes to fill.
