Vampires, The Underused Gaming Trope

It’s perhaps fair to say that, for all their fame, vampires have never been a popular villain in media – or, at least, nowhere near as popular as zombies, murderous mountain folk, or mutant monsters. This might have something to do with their classical portrayal as rather cultured, singular people, which doesn’t exactly create the same kind of nightmare scenario as hordes of the undead. Limited Options Of course, there are plenty of vampire stories that have managed to make an effective evil out of our long-toothed friends. Books like Salem’s Lot by Stephen King and Anne Rice’s Interview with a Vampire stand alongside a raft of films such as Let Me In, 30 Days of Night, and the inexplicably popular Twilight saga, which was shunned by almost every studio before going on to make US$3.3bn. In gaming, though, vampires never really took off as a concept. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim added a menacing cult and the ability to

Blu-ray Review: Night (2006 – 2021)

Detective Mike Jericho (John Hardy) is in a bit of a pickle; you see he’s become a blood lappin’ fang banger after inadvertently turning a comely lass into so much Swiss cheese with his pistol (as one does). How did that happen you may ask? Well, even if ya didn’t ask I’ll tell you! The woman was a vampire, so dying by bullet wound wasn’t really her “thing”, and she turns Mike into one as well. So with Mike’s nocturnal pursuits keeping him from his day job, his co-worker Jimi Cannon (Shawn LeTang) begins searching for his chum, which of course puts him in direct opposition of the creatures of the night who have no intention of giving Mike back to the land of the living! Shot on a shoestring by multi-talented filmmaker/musician Byron C. Miller (who wrote the fright flick as well), Night represents an impressive, if low-tech debut from someone that continues to work in the horror biz

That Time There Was A Vampire Pandemic In The U.S.

2020 and the infant months of 2021 have been full of somewhat interesting theories when it comes to the Covid-19 pandemic ranging from scholarly discoveries to claims made by keyboard conspiracy theorists. Though a lot of what we see and hear from the strangest corners of the internet fails in comparison to the rumblings coming out of New England in the 19th century. As you may have guessed (from the title) New Englanders believed that there was a Vampire problem plaguing the region. Over time there have been cases popping up all over the New England region of the U.S. where many families have been nearly wiped out by mysterious illnesses leading many within the communities to look towards the supernatural for answers as to how or why bad luck would befall an entire household. The common answer, one of the family members was a Vampire. People came to this conclusion because of how the house members died. In most
