4K Ultra HD Review: The Final Countdown (1980)

‘Round about ol’ nineteen hundred and eighty, systems analyst Warren Lasky (a staggeringly young Martin Sheen) finds himself aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Nimitz, led by Captain Yelland (a staggeringly not as old as he was towards the end, but still old Kirk Douglas) down Pearl Harbor way. Lasky’s job? Tell them what a gang of fuck-ups they are and how they can improve on that via efficiency or some shit… it isn’t important until it is anyway… Anyhow, the Nimitz soon finds itself in the middle of one hell of a bizarre storm, which they assume to be the result of some sort of Soviet attack or other… which unless they got their mitts on Destro’s Weather Dominator is a bit of a stretch, but regardless the Nimitz sails straight into a laser light display straight out of a Who concert. Cue: Star Trek theatrics, lazer antics, and searing pain… After all of that glorious nonsense, our heroes find

Blu-ray Review: Slaughterhouse-Five (1972)

Poor Billy Pilgrim (Michael Sacks), while just livin’ his life as a middle-aged optometrist, he keeps coming “unstuck” in time. One second he’s in the trenches of World War II, the next he’s on exhibit in a fancy zoo on the planet Tralfamadore, kicking it with sexy-ass Hollywood starlet Montana Wildhack (Valerie Perrine). That last one is pretty damn awesome, but unfortunately he must also cool his jets in a German POW camp in Dresden (the eponymous Slaughterhouse Five), or fight for his life after barely surviving a plane crash… all in any order the time stream feels is necessary. Will our hero find a happy end or just keep fast forwarding and rewinding his life’s events until he expires? Slaughterhouse-Five is one hell of a crazy ride cats n’ creeps! We get time travel, nazis, aliens, nudity… you know, the big ticket items, but things are never presented in a manner other than melancholy, introspective, and often blackly humorous.

Blu-ray Review: 12 Monkeys (1995)

In a disease ravaged future, subterranean dwellin’ prisoner James Cole (Bruce Willis) is chosen to go back in time and find the source of the virus in a desperate plan to save the future…on a side note, he keeps having dreams of an airport shooting, but I’m sure that is unrelated and will not factor into the story at all. Anyway, our dude goes back a bit too far (to 1990 instead of 1996 to be precise). He is of course immediately considered a lunatic and incarcerated when he tells of his mission…but soon learns an organization with the catchy handle of the Army of the Twelve Monkeys has a role in the virus and that his fellow inmate, Jeffrey Goines (Brad Pitt) is involved with the whole affair in some part. Soon Cole is goin’ back and forth along the time stream like a yo-yo trying to put an end to that dastardly disease, but will he be up

Movie Review: Inoperable is a Reality Bending Fright flick Worth Your Time!

See that image of beloved scream queen Danielle Harris haulin’ ass down a hallway? Well, I hope you dig on the runnin’ cause ol’ D-gurl does plenty of that in Inoperable…but first, a lil’ set up… Inoperable finds our heroine Amy (Harris) warping back in forth in time from her s-hot Stingray to the interior of a massively understaffed hospital. As she drives and/or wanders the hallways of healin’ we learn there is a massive hurricane on the way as well…I mean, a girl can’t even catch a break; if it isn’t getting caught in a time loop it’s being threatened by ol’ Mother Nature herself…talk about a Tuesday, amirite? Anyway, Amy constantly flashes back and forth from the safety of the ‘ray to the hell of the hospital and it’s demented staff. How will Amy right herself in reality and escape her sinister surroundings? Only time will tell (hahaha…I regret nothing)! Kickin’ things off with a ray of sunshine
