Filing conditions were absolutely brutal. Much of the film was shot in an abandoned hotel on top of a mountain where it was so cold the cast and crew were left freezing constantly. The physical strain from the dancing scene after the scene left the cast exhausted and in pain much of the time. Say A Prayer, It Appears That ‘The Exorcist’ Is Being Rebooted

Break out the holy water and call a priest, Morgan Creek is about to commit blasphemy. They are reportedly rebooting the most iconic horror film in history, 1973’s The Exorcist. The news that was hidden in a recent Deadline article. The single sentence has sent heads spinning throughout the genre. Current Morgan Creek Projects include Stay Tuned at AMC, with a theatrical reboot of The Exorcist in the works for 2021.” The strange part about all this, besides that anyone is attempting to reboot it, is that Morgan Creek swore on Twitter back on September 28, 2015, that, “For the record, we will never attempt to remake THE EXORCIST.” It seems they’ve decided to follow the sad trend of rebooting/remaking anything that could make a dime. There is one thing, the term “reboot” being used which implies that the story will differ from the original, but who knows. The film is not currently featured on their “in development” list. There’s

HorrorScreams VideoVault and FoxTrot Productions have announced that a very well known face from the classic horror The Exorcist (1973) is in talks to join the cast of Callback. Callback is a female-driven horror so Eileen Dietz (The Exorcist, The Assent) would be a welcome addition to the cast, which already includes Jennifer Nangle (Malvolia: The Queen Of Screams, The Last Roommate) as Sonia and Jackie Falcon (Lethal Admirer, Lockdown) as Jessica. The involvement of Eileen Dietz is however dependent on the success of the Indiegogo campaign which is currently live. Movie Reviews (Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival): Leap of Faith: William Friedkin on The Exorcist is a Must-See Documentary

Although in the documentary Leap of Faith: William Friedkin on the Exorcist Friedkin is the only on-camera subject interviewed, the film is riveting stuff throughout its 104-minute running time. The director gives a master class on filmmaking while providing a behind-the-scenes account of what is inarguably one of the greatest horror films ever made. Director Alexandre O. Philippe (who helmed the incredible and highly recommended 78/52: Hitchcock’s Shower Scene) conducts a sit-down interview with Friedkin, who plainly and boldly speaks about the singular mindset he had for The Exorcist, from marking up a hardback copy of William Peter Blatty’s source novel so he could convey exactly what he wanted for the film, through the arduous process of getting the film rolling on production, to anecdotes about how he got the actors to give the terrific performances they did in certain scenes, to the film’s enduring legacy. It’s interesting to also hear who and what didn’t appear in the film, including

“Cursed Films” Has One Of The Biggest Premieres In Shudder History

Genre docuseries “Cursed Films” has made Shudder history by having the second-largest premiere ever for the streaming genre service. The series, only outranked by “Creepshow,” explores the myths and legends behind some of Hollywood’s notoriously “cursed” horror film productions, featuring interviews with experts, witnesses, cast, directors, and producers who experienced the events first hand. Were these movies really cursed, as many believe, or just victims of bad luck and bizarre circumstances? The Exorcist star Linda Blair, and The Omen director Richard Donner, along with Poltergeist III director Gary Sherman, podcaster Matt Gourley, critic April Wolfe, and Fangoria editor Phil Nobile Jr. are among the many insiders and experts interviewed for the series. Last week’s record-breaking premiere focused on the legend and impact of The Exorcist “curse.” Episodes two and three, premiering today, explore whether the Devil himself might have cursed The Omen and if a curse might be connected to the tragic deaths associated with the franchise. A Bad Day For The Devil – Fox Kills Two Great Shows

It’s been a bad day for the Devil, Fox killed not one, but two great horror series, “The Exorcist”, and “Lucifer”. Needless to say, fans are upset. After two wonderful seasons, the folks at Fox gave The Exorcist the ax. The show followed two priests (Ben Daniels, Alfonso Herrera) on a mission to exorcise the demons that plague a different family each season. Lucifer, the devil himself wasn’t immune to Fox’s reach. After three seasons the show is done, which is a shame. You can’t help but love Tom Ellis’s cheeky character. Hopefully, before the end of this season, we’ll find out if Lucifer gets the girl (Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German)), if D.B. Woodside’s Amenadiel will complete his mission, and if Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt) will find peace. Those aren’t the only two shows to get killed by Fox this week. “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “The Last Man on Earth” were also canceled.
