Blu-ray Review: Sleep (2020)

Mona (Gro Swantje Kohlhof) heads to a hotel in the remote village of Stainbach after her mother, flight attendant Marlene (Sandra Hüller), falls victim to a severe mental episode while staying at the same location… a location that has been plaguing her chronic nightmares. Once there, Mona finds herself in a seeming fever dream filled with boars, ancient houses in the woods, and visions of suicides past that took place on those putrid premises… not to mention the hotel’s owners acting weird as all fuck… and those “sex” dreams… Will our hero uncover the town’s dark secret and how does it relate to her family? Adding to the positives here is a stellar performance from Kohlhof who travels through this surreal misadventure in a perpetual

New ‘Come True’ Clip Gives A Lesson On Sleep Ahead Of Film’s Release

This March, a woman spirals into a nightmare as her horrifying dreams lead to a discovery in Come True, from acclaimed Canadian filmmaker, visual effects artist, and musician Anthony Scott Burns (Our House, Holidays Father’s Day segment). Ahead of its release, we’ve got a brand new clip to share with you. The film is inspired by a real Berkeley study that reconstructed the dreams, memories, and “movies” of the mind, and the work of icons Nicolas Roeg, Stanley Kubrick, and David Cronenberg. Starring Julia Sarah Stone (Honey Bee) and Landon Liboiron (Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare) the film is a Copperheart Entertainment and Angel Entertainment production. Burns wrote, directed, and shot the film featuring music by Electric Youth (Drive) and Pilotpriest. In the film, “high school student Sarah (Stone) is at her lowest point yet when she runs away from home and finds herself with no one to rely on and struggling with recurring nightmares. She chances upon a university sleep

Lund Fantastic Film Festival Goes Hybrid for 2020, Announces Poster and First Two Features

Lund Fantastic Film Festival — a Swedish fest presenting amazing horror, science fiction, and fantasy movies from around the globe — has scheduled a hybrid version for this year. Most screenings will be online through Spamflix with a select few in-person screenings during the fest’s October 28–November 1 run. Lund Fantastic has also debuted its poster for this year and announced its first two films. I have already seen Woman of the Photographs, and can recommend it as a hypnotic character study and psychological thriller with body horror elements and superb sound design. German chiller Sleep promises to be a gripping psychological outing, as well. The following information is from Lund Fantastic’s press releases and official announcements. For more information, visit https://www.fff.se/. At age 26, Lund Fantastic shows no signs of slowing down and is proud to go through with its 2020 edition (October 28–November 1), even if the current state of the world brings changes to the usual format.
