Comic Book Review: Attaboy (2021)

Artist extraordinaire Tony McMillen (creator of the horror effects biz/coming of age tale Serious Creatures that every, single one of you monster mother fuckers need on your beastly bookshelves right away) is getting ready to launch a Kickstarter campaign to get his latest creation, the ’80s video game influenced Attaboy in your hairy lil’ hands, and he just so happened to grant yours cruelly an advanced look-see at his tale of advanced robots and the perils of fatherhood… Presented in an over-sized “treasury” format, Attaboy relates the tale of the eponymous robot boy; the creation of a kindly scientist and a soon-to-turn rogue Motherboard, who must stand against a fleet of mechanical menaces. It’s also about exploring the existence of a game that might be completely hallucinatory (even the name of the games supposed creators, Alucinari offers credence to this)… and I haven’t gotten to the juicy part yet cats n’ creeps! At it’s center, Attaboy is a story of

Movie Review: Aquaslash (2019)

Man, the student body of Valley Hill High have it made, what with throwin’ a bash at Wet Valley, a nearby water park. Sure the park is way past it’s prime; but it still manages to serve as a spot where water slides and coke (snorted off a girl’s rockin’ rack no less) can be enjoyed in equal measure! Of course there’s a bit more to the plot including a love triangle involvin’ Tommy (Paul Zinno), Kim (Lanisa Dawn) and Josh (Nicolas Fontaine)… who’s pappy just so happens to be gettin’ horizontal with the wife of the owner of Wet Valley. Oh, there’s also a maniac puttin’ the murder biz on our hapless heroes via sabotaging the slides and turning them into more of a death trap than they were to begin with… See how it took me a long-ass time to get to the slasher shit? Well, buckle up because Aquaslash takes longer to get where it’s going than

Short Film Review: Date from Hell (2018)

You know how I do the ol’ “Once in a blue moon, a horror short comes along that really tickles the ol’ preternatural pickle…” routine, then I lay my award losing “This ain’t it” punchline in there to thunderous (or is that nonexistent…) applause? Well, this ain’t that! Date From Hell weaves a terror tale of two mismatched lovers; the meek Bobby (Samuel Brett Howard), and the manipulative Susie (Ava L’Amoreaux). these two get into a bit of a lovers spat before engaging in some rather strange date night rituals…but things are soon complicated by the arrival of a third wheel…and a potentially psychotic one at that. I can’t say more without givin’ away the entire thing…but let’s just say this fright flick goes in some deviously delightful and unexpected directions boys n’ ghouls! Written (along with Co-Writer/Producer Tracee Beebe) and Directed by Ven Scott (who in turn is the vocalist for metal band Runescarred…and you know how we love
