Movie Review: ‘Isolation’

The pandemic anthology Isolation, which features 11 directors, gives us a glimpse into the lives of multiple people across the world as the world around them skids to a halt and millions fall sick and die. In each segment, loosely connected, we see different examples of human suffering and just how bad things could be. The film’s cinematography does a fantastic job of capturing the bleakness of the new world by using blues and grays as well as other muted tones and stark city backgrounds nearly void of all life. The large cast that includes Larry Fessenden (The Last Winter, Habit, Depraved), Bobby Roe, (“The Houses October Built 1&2”), Andrew Kasch, (Tales Of Halloween), Zach Passero (Wicked Lake), and Christian Pasquariello (Alien Invasion: S.U.M. 1). The directors include Alix Austin, Adam R. Brown, Lary Fessenden, Dennie Gordon, Andrew Kasch, Kyle I. Kelley, Alexander Neary, Christian Pasquariello, Zach Passero, Bobby Roe, and Keir Siewert. Each segment gives us a take on

Micro Budget Outbreak Thriller ‘Breakdown’ Now On Amazon

Thomas Haley makes his feature directorial debut with Breakdown. It also marks the feature film debut for his production company H2 Crew Productions. Breakdown is Haley’s passion project and has been in the works for a few years. Its release is well-timed given the current pandemic and shares similarities with the film’s grim reality. In the film, “a mysterious virus has wiped out much of the world’s population, with the remaining sick being corralled in quarantine zones, as one man fights to find a cure to save humanity, and himself.” Haley also stars in the film described as, “his most intense role released to date,” carrying much of the film’s heavy themes. He is surrounded by a stellar supporting cast including rising scream queen Brooklyn Haley (Paranormal Arracion, Camp Twilight, Slice and Dice), Corey Sorenson (Chicago Fire, Patchwork, Palo Alto), Jessica Cameron (Truth or Dare, Silent Night, All Through The House), and John Marror (Envy, Desert Moon). Soderbergh Working On A Sequel To ‘Contagion’

Back in 2011, Steven Soderbergh unleashed Contagion, a thriller that is as relevant as ever thanks to the current pandemic. With timing in mind, now would be a great time for a sequel. Luckily, we aren’t the only ones who think so. During a recent talk with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Soderbergh revealed that a sequel is indeed on its way. I’ve got a project in development that Scott Burns is working with me on, that’s a kind of philosophical sequel to Contagion, but in a different context,” Soderbergh told the podcast. He added, “You’ll look at the two of them as kind of paired, but they have very different hair colors. So, Scott and I were talking about, ‘So, what’s the next iteration of a Contagion-type story?’ So we have been working on that. We should probably hot-foot it a little bit.” Scott Z. Burns penned the script for Contagion, which starred Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law,

Movie Review: Epidemic (2018)

Good ol’ Dana (Amanda K. Morales) has a lot going for her; it’s her 30th Birthday, and her estranged alcoholic father Rufus ( Andrew Hunsicker) is ready to make amends and reenter her life. On the negative side she just can’t catch a break when it comes to getting eaten out (seriously D-dawg, just don’t answer the door, especially for that hipster stoner doofus James) and her friend Mandi brings an unexpected gift to the party; namely a rampaging mutant virus she has contracted and which she spreads via spraying everyone attending Dana’s party with vomit (a real charmer that Mandi is). Before you can say 28 Minutes Later, folks start turning into sore covered monsters…at least in Dana’s fevered mind, ‘cuz them shits are mostly just nasty corpses in her bathroom. The main quality Epidemic brings to the party is it’s large quantity of stomach churning effects. Folks get covered with open wounds, vomit sprays everywhere (as does blood),
