Movie Review: The Blackcoat’s Daughter will Possess Your Soul!

The students of Bradford Academy are all leaving to spend winter break with their families…everyone except bizarro Kat and Catholic School Rizzo surrogate Rose; ‘cuz their parents apparently give less than two shits about them and fail to show up to spirit them away. The girls are now left alone at the perpetually grey and dour school where they have an uneventful stay until their parents arrive. The end. Okay, that’s complete nonsense as I forgot to mention, there’s some sort of malevolent force haunting the school, so supernatural shenanigans abound six ways to Sunday. Adding to the goings-on is a mysterious woman named Joan who is hellbent for Bradford; though why she wants to get there is unclear at first…but trust me when you find out it’s a real corker! Unlike ol’ Atomica above; The Blackcoat’s Daughter is a slow-burn fright flick done right! Dripping with atmosphere, creeptastic tension (those pregnant pauses!), and off-kilter characters, this film is definitely

William Seabrook: Zombies, Cannibalism, Tormented Mind

While researching for a previous article, I came across an interesting fellow named William Seabrook. Seabrook’s occupation was as a Writer and Reporter but the rest of his credentials are Occultist, Explorer, Traveler, Cannibal, and Journalist. I understand if like me after reading that, you heard a record scratch and are currently looking back to make sure you read that right. Yes, casually tucked in among his other titles is Cannibal. What makes that more ironic or fascinating is that Seabrook is credited as one of the first authors to introduce zombies to western culture, not the kind we know today but the actual zombies of Haitian origins steeped deep in Voodoo lore. I know, I know, “Get to the part where he’s a Cannibal!” alright But first some background. Seabrook was a traveler and explorer who made a name for himself by writing articles for magazines like Cosmopolitan, Reader’s Digest, and Vanity Fair that detailed his adventures to parts

Movie Review: Paranormal Farm Brings a Horror Harvest Worth Seeing!

In the latest entry in the massively saturated found footage fright flick genre, Paranormal Farm, a documentary film maker is called to an extremely rural farm to try and prove whether the location is actually haunted. He records everything (of course…wouldn’t be much of a ‘found footage’ film without any ‘footage’), and shows signs of being freaked the F out before he even enters the domicile and meets it’s salt of the Earth occupants. After a bit of investigation (and learning about the family’s tragedy) the owners leave, and our hero is left alone in the home. Wandering the grounds, he inexplicably encounters men in clown masks which continue to terrorize him further back at the homestead. After inviting the spirit to use him as a vessel…to complete success…our protagonist has had about enough of the house and all it’s bullshit, and bolts to the trailer where the owners are staying during the investigation. This leads to some shocking information…and

The Temple of Lilith is Ready for Your Wicked Worship!

I get sent plenty of ghoulishly groovy things (most of which I slap my award losing revoltin’ reviews upon), but what I’m about to lay on you today is a short film that finally answers a question I’ve had in my head for over a decade: “If a Suicide Girl wakes up in the woods, would anyone be there to form some sort of insane evil family?’ The answer yes…yes, they would. Click the ol’ video below to see what I mean: To say I’m totally in love with that sinister short is an understatement…and apparently it’s part of a bigger picture! Here’s the official word on what’s coming next; a longer short titled Sulphur for Leviathan : Sulphur for Leviathan revolves around a nun, who suddenly finds herself progressively fantasizing about things that shouldn’t be in her head, increasingly having to face her own doings of blasphemy, all leading up to something demonically dark and sinister. Portrayed in a

Movie Review: Satan’s Cheerleaders is the Perfect Blend of Laughs and Lucifer!

Satan’s Cheerleaders (god damn, that’s a great title…this flick has a lot to live up to) begins with our gorgeous gaggle of “rah rah” heroines frolicking on the beach as a porn soundtrack cum disco anthem, with a constant refrain of ‘all for one, and one for all’, assaults our ears like nobodies business (and for a real meta moment, the cheerleaders say the phrase as the soundtrack sings it). Anyway, run time eating assery ensues for a bit before we get down to brass tacks; namely the girls get taken on an unexpected detour on their way to the ‘Big Game’ by the school’s bedazzled denim shirt wearing janitor/bus driver, who just so happens to be in charge of finding that hoary ol’ chestnut, the virgin sacrifice required for some such skullduggery by the local Satanic cult (and judging by how these foxy ladies have acted in the previous thirty minutes of film, this may be a harder task

Integrity Bring Nightmares To Life In New Music Video

Ahead of the July 14 release of Integrity‘s tenth studio album, Howling, For the Nightmare Shall Consume, the metallic hardcore act have unleashed their latest music video. A spooky, black-and-white visual nightmare, the clip for “Hymn for the Children of the Black Flame” was directed by Unproduction‘s Jimmy Hubbard. Of Hubbard and the video, Integrity frontman Dwid Hellion states: “The horrifically stunning aesthetic of director, Jimmy Hubbard has taken us deep into the realm of forbidden nightmare and religious inversion. Hubbard has breathed a new hell into our song, Hymn For The Children Of The Black Flame.” Those that like their horror music brutal, enraged, and apocalyptic, view “Hymn for the Children of the Black Flame” below. Howling, For the Nightmare Shall Consume will be out on Relapse Records on Friday, July 14.

Film Review: “At The Devils Door (2014)”

“When ambitious young real estate agent Leigh is asked to sell a house with a checkered past, she crosses paths with a disturbed girl whom she believes is the runaway daughter of the couple selling the property. When Leigh tries to intervene and help her, she becomes entangled with a supernatural force that soon pulls Leigh’s artist sister Vera into its own web – and has sinister plans for both of them.” _______________________________________ “At The Devil’s Door” is packed with young familiar faces from “Glee’s” Naya Rivera, to MTV’s “Awkard’s” Ashley Rickards, to “Falling Skies” star Catalina Sandino Moreno. The three girls play off of each other well creating the perfect formula for a modern day horror thriller. I did enjoy this film, although what started off as an extremely promising demonic horror flick, started to loose its sense of direction through the middle of the film. While the actors played off each other beautifully, I almost wonder if too
