Movie Review: Rootwood (2018)

Podcasters William (Tyler Gallant) and Jessica (Elissa Dowling) have just been handed the opportunity of a lifetime; to document a cursed forest, all expenses paid courtesy of Laura Benott (the legendary Felissa Rose of my beloved Sleepaway Camp). The duo agree, and along with their gal pal Erin (Sarah French), trek out into those wicked woods where they are besieged by supernatural shenanigans on every side… but our gang of goofs soldier on, though if they’ll make it through this arcane ordeal intact remains to be seen! To be honest, Rootwood doesn’t re-invent the wicked wheel in terms of horror biz cliches (as that sinister synopsis up yonder will doubtless prove), but is that a bad thing? Well, fifty-fifty cats n’ creeps… Director Marcel Walz and screenwriter Mario von Czapiewski certainly deliver a truly creepy experience, with a solid dash of mythology and world building sprinkled on top, and that goes a long way with yours cruelly. There’s also some

BLOOD FEAST Receives An Expanded Release And New Date

One of the few, and I mean very few, remakes I’ve looked forward to seeing is director Marcel Walz’s Blood Fest, originally released in 1963 by H.G. Lewis. A distribution deal had been struck and Medallion Releasing was set to release Blood Feast in theaters on April 28, 2017. Instead a new date has been announced. Due to fan demands, Blood Feast will be getting a wider release on June 23, 2017. Starring Robert Rusler, Caroline Williams, Sophie Monk, and Sadie Katz, the story centers on Fuad Ramses (Rusler) and his family who have moved from the US to France, where they run a diner. With business not going well, Fuad takes a second job as the night shift at a museum of ancient Egyptian culture. During the long, lonely nights, he finds himself drawn to an ancient statue of the goddess Ishtar (Katz). He becomes more and more drawn to her as she speaks to him in visions. Eventually

Dig Into The First Trailer For Blood Fest

Back in April of last year, we reported that a remake of Herschell Gordon Lewis’ 1963 Blood Feast was in the works. Today we have the trailer for the remake, directed by Marcel Walz and written by Philip Lilienschwarz. Blood Feast stars Robert Rusler, Sophie Monk, Caroline Williams, Hershell Gordon Lewis, Liliana Nova, Metisha Schaefer and Sadie Katz as the goddess Ishtar. In the film, Fuad Ramses and his family have moved from the United States to France, where they run an American diner. Since business is not going too well, Fuad also works night shifts in a museum of ancient Egyptian culture. During these long, lonely nights he becomes allured by goddess Ishtar as she speaks to him in visions. Eventually he succumbs to her deadly charms. After this pivotal night, Fuad begins a new life, in which murder and cannibalism become his daily bread. As butchered bodies are heaped upon the Alter of Ishtar, Fuad slowly slips further
