A First Look At The Indie Lovecraftian Horror ‘The Deep Ones’

Independent horror filmmaker Chad Ferrin (Parasites, The Ghouls, Someone’s Knocking at the Door) has unveiled the first stills from his eighth film The Deep Ones, a Lovecraftian take on Rosemary’s Baby. In the film, “After suffering an untimely loss, Alex (La Piana) and her husband Petri (Urb) visit California for a much-needed break from reality. At an unassuming rental, they meet the mysterious Russell Marsh (Miano). Marsh introduces them to the oddly enthusiastic locals, fixes them a lavish meal and invites them out on his luxury boat. Little do they know that beneath Mr. Marsh’s thin veneer of avuncular charm lurks a dark devotion to an archaic evil.” The cast includes Johann Urb (“Arrow”), Gina La Piana, Robert Miano, and Silvia Spross, along with Jackie Debatin, Nicolas Coster, Rachel Pringle, Jerry Irons, Robert Rhine, Jon Mack, Bulet Rush, Timothy Muskatell, Kelli Maroney (Chopping Mall, Night of the Comet) and Kurt Carley (the Underworld franchise, Roland Emmerich’s Godzilla). In order to rid our world of eldritch nasties, the Artemis Black Site was created; an underground military base that contains and deports all the evil demons and deities the universe has thrown at us. Enter Erebus (Kris Johnson) a particularly nasty mother fucker inhabiting a human form that has no great desire to be the latest prisoner of the Black Site and is going to make sure he doesn’t stay there long. ‘Moons Of Madness’ Gets New Release Date

Previously, I’ve talked about a new first-person horror game titled Moons of Madness, a space exploration game with a Lovecraft twist. A lot has changed since I last shared about the game, mainly the release date changed, but for the better. Rocket Pocket Games has teamed up with Funcom and have set the game’s release around the Halloween season this year! Along with a new release date comes new information about the game. As previously mentioned you play as Shane Newhart, a technician working at a secret research base stationed on Mars. Your job is just tech work and making sure the lights don’t go out and having low-security clearance prevents you from knowing the real reason for the station’s presence on Mars. Soon Shane will begin to see and hear things that aren’t there…or are they? He’ll discover that he’s alone at the station…or is he? Cosmic horrors the likes of which Lovecraft wrote about will make its presence

Gameplay Trailer For ‘The Sinking City’ Shows A Wet & Creepy World

Things are going Lovecraft for horror games it seems! Frogwares and Bigben Interactive will be taking players to the city of Oakmont in “The Sinking City”. The game takes place in the 1920’s and the city of Oakmont is, well…sinking, but that’s not the worst of it. The citizens are being tormented by supernatural forces and creatures coming from the water. You take on the role of a detective who is going through personal issues (like most detectives in these kinds of stories) and venturing into the city is not helping. “The Sinking City” is an open world game where you have to travel to different locations by boat. There are side missions along with the main quest, all of which can be completed in a multitude of ways. Seeing disturbing things will make the player loose sanity for a bit. The best part is fans of the works of Lovecraft can see many Easter eggs in relations to Lovecraft’s

DVD Review: Soultangler (1987)

Crazed scientist Dr. Anton Lupesky has for some baffling reason created a drug that frees the soul from the body and lets it inhabit any given corpse, as long as it possess eyes. That sounds pleasant…but wait, it get’s worse. You see the drug also gives the user hellacious hallucinations and drives them batshit bonkers. While that bit of biz is going on, an intrepid reporter is hot on the Dr.’s heels as she feels he may have had something to do with the death of her father…but mostly she smokes a lot and randomly bangs on typewriter keys. Along the way we thrill to people wanting to rent videotapes, random serial killers, Lovecraftian pseudo-science, buckets and buckets of blood and gruesome gore, a jingle-jangle soundtrack, a zombie that appears to be practicing for the Cunnilingus Olympics, and most importantly rampaging Long Island accents! As baffling as it is brilliant, Soultangler is a film you just have to experience…preferably under

Survival Horror & WWI In ‘Ad Infinitum’

‘Ad Infinitum’ means again and again in the same way; forever. Kind of along the lines of the saying, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” That seems to be hinting at what’s going to happen to players when they play StrixLab’s upcoming survival horror game, ‘Ad Infinitum’. According to the StrixLap website, the game takes place in a trench during the First World War but there are horrific creatures stalking around in them. While playing in first person, you have to solve puzzles, avoid traps and of course, avoiding the creatures whiles the lines of insanity and the horrors of war become blurred. The game is set to be released for PC and possibly for Console, the release date is unknown at this time but after seeing the trailer, I hope it’s soon and does make it to console!
