DVD Review: Get Gone (2019)

The Maxwells, lead by Don (Robert Miano) and his wife Mama (Lin Shaye), are one hell of a fucked-up family livin’ it up Hills Have Eyes style on polluted government land, deformed offspring and all. Of course these fine fiends have become the stuff of urban legend which leads us to our heroes… Enter: a hoax busting group on a team-building retreat… a group whose ranks include a few hoax busters going rogue from the group and finding themselves balls deep in Monstrous Maxwell territory. This of course pisses the Maxwell’s off right proper… but perhaps not as much as ye olde drilling company asshats making the scene to eject the Maxwells off the land. Violence ensues. Writer/Director Michael Thomas Daniel pulls of a horror biz miracle with Get Gone as he takes a rather derivative concept and makes some fright flick gold out of that there sinister straw! We get a heady stew of slasher, suspense, and even the

The New ‘Grudge’ Movie Is Neither A Sequel Or A Remake

The new installment of The Grudge franchise is on its way from Sam Raimi’s Ghost House. In a surprising twist, director and co-writer Nicolas Pesce confirmed during an interview with Blood-Disgusting that the movie, simply titled The Grudge, is neither a sequel or remake, but instead takes place at the same time as the 2004 movie starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. This movie takes place at the exact same time that the Sarah Michelle Gellar Grudge takes place,” Pesce stated. So Sarah Michelle Gellar is doing her thing in Japan, and this is what’s happening in America at that same time.” he continued. “So for people who know the old movies, American and Japanese, super well, they’ll see fun ways that we’ve connected it into the mythology and into the story and storylines that existed, while still making a totally separate story that, for all the people who haven’t seen the Grudge movies, this will still make sense to them,” Starring

Penny Dreadful: City Of Angels Rounds Out Cast

“Mad Men” actor Michael Gladis (pictured below) has joined the cast of Showtime’s upcoming “Penny Dreadful” spin-off “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels” alongside Daniel Zovatto (Don’t Breathe) Lorenza Izzo ( The Green Inferno), and Natalie Dormer (“Game of Thrones”), Deadline reports. Director Tommy Stovall Talks About His Film Room For Rent In An Interview

Writer-director Tommy Stovall‘s (Hate Crime, Aaron’s Blood, Sedona) new film Room For Rent, starring horror icon Lin Shaye, will soon be released. Ahead of its arrival, I sat down with Stovall to discuss the horror thriller, his previous work, and what he’s doing now. Room for Rent centers on a lonely widow Joyce (Shaye) who rents out a room to make ends meet. She meets mysterious drifter Bob and takes him in as a tenant, but soon becomes obsessed with her much younger guest, making him the object of her deepest romantic fantasies. When a friend’s betrayal derails Joyce’s fantasy world, she seizes control of her own destiny with a deadly mission. Horror Fuel: “Your award-winning film Aaron’s Blood is a unique twist on the vampire genre, how did that idea come to you?” Tommy: “Well, the idea actually, my son played the child vampire in the film. When he was a lot younger, maybe five years old or so,

Movie Review: Room For Rent (2019)

Widow Joyce (Lin Shaye) was left high and dry with her ass in the air after her husband died and left her with nothing except the house they lived in…a house she gets the bright idea to turn into a bed and breakfast joint. This plan seems solid, but Joyce’s personality and quirks manage to piss off each and every guest of her establishment. Enter Bob (Oliver Rayon) a mysterious drifter (do they ever come in any other flavors?), who Joyce quickly becomes absolutely obsessed with…like the psycho-stalker style of obsessed, which goes about as off the rails as you would imagine, especially when a comely ex-guest Joyce has befriended makes the scene… Directed by Tommy Stovall from a screenplay by Stuart Flack, Room For Rent comes off like one of those thrillers you’d find on Lifetime…but is that a bad thing? Kind of. Devoid of mystery and suspense (we know who’s responsible for all of the menace right from
