Movie Review: Backwoods (2020)

Molly (Isabella Alberti) wakes up in a trunk, with no memory of how her ass got in there, and wanders into a trap laden cemetery. Sounds like a typical Tuesday to me boils n’ ghouls… So how in the hell did Molly end up in the sinister soup anyway? Could it be because of the large debt her cheap skate boyfriend Hunter (Matthew McCoy) owes ye olde local drug dealer (Jeremy Sande)… or maybe it was jealous AF Hunter himself… he did quite peeved she was jawin’ with ol’ Noah (Michael Anthony Bagozzi). Regardless of how she got to the charmingly named Hangman’s Hollow, Molly is drfinitely going to have to keep her shit together to avoid the local slasher; namely the Hangman (Scott Alan Warner) his own damn self… a deformed sick-ticket religious nut, who hangs his male victims and keeps the ladies as his brides! Told in part via flashbacks, Backwoods manages to throw some fun twists and

A Group Of Teens Find Terror In The ‘Backwoods’ Trailer

This December, a terrifying legend turns out to be very real in director Thomas Smith’s Backwoods. In the film, “High school cheerleader Molly woke bound and gagged in the trunk of her boyfriend’s car. That was the high point of her night. After escaping and fleeing into the nearby forest, she comes face-to-face with the town urban legend: The Hangman, a deformed zealot said to lynch male trespassers and keep the women as “brides”. Now, Molly, along with her best friend and would-be rescuer Noah must work together to avoid becoming his latest victims.” Jeremy Sande, Tahj Vaughans, Isabella Alberti, Micahel Anthony Bagozzi, Erin Liley, and Scott Alan Warner star. Backwoods arrives on VOD on December 1, 2020, from Gravitas Ventures. Check out the trailer!

Movie Review: Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies is a Gut Muncher Worth Sinking Your Teeth Into!

In order to eliminate the evasive kudzu vine, a team of scientists develop an experimental chemical that has one teeny, tiny drawback…it turns the citizens of Charleston, Mississippi into flesh hungry zombies! Before long a group of young friends find themselves under siege by the hungry hoards at a music festival (more on that in a bit)…a conflict that soon spills over into the streets of the town itself! Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies has some good things going for it; for starters the characters are actually extremely likable (and in some cases completely ridiculous like the guitar totin’ Mayor who is an absolute riot, and Johnny McPhail as Ben who steals every scene he is in), and no matter how over the top the blood, gore, and narrative get (and it does get bonkers A.F.) the protagonists help ground us…it’s a delicate, hard to pull off balance, and this flick does it well. Another heaping helpin’ of accolades
