Vertical’s Home Invasion Thriller ‘The Surprise Visit’ Is Out Today

Starring Academy Award Nominee Eric Roberts, Dopestick’s Tricia Hawn, Rob Riordan, Jacqi Vene, and Serah Henesey, director Nick Lyon’s intense, gritty and suspenseful thriller The Surprise Visit is out today from Vertical Entertainment. “When a young couple makes a surprise visit to Mom, they get an even bigger surprise themselves from an old family friend who plans to steal Mom’s valuable jewelry while she is out of town. But when the “easy peasy” robbery goes wrong, resulting in the accidental death of the daughter’s husband, it forces the two young drug addicts to make a difficult decision; to abandon ship, or do the unthinkable.” I love that THE SURPRISE VISIT is based on a true story that explores the themes of class difference and how desperation can make people do things that they might not otherwise do. The film is an American tragedy. I chose to tell THE SURPRISE VISIT in a gritty and realistic style that was complemented by

Blu-ray Review: Born for Hell (1976)

Here’s the basics of Born to Hell: A dude returns from the ‘Nam, but has a lay-over in Belfast, which is under serious strife in and of itself. Anyway, our “ hero” winds up in a house shared by a gaggle of comely nurses. Oh, I forgot to mention; the vet is a complete lunatic, so things go south for those ladies right quick! Sleaze ensues. Loosely based on the murder biz Richard Speck got up to a decade earlier, Born to Hell is a grueling sleaze-fest with absolutely no joy on display. What I’m layin’ down is, this is some dark ass shit, so if you are not in the mood for some heavy vibes this one may not be up your arcane alley, ya dig? Now, if you indeed like your horror biz to be the hardest of hardcore, then this thing will blow your ass away! You get an unhinged maniac (played to putrid perfection by Mathieu
