Gameplay Trailer For ‘The Sinking City’ Shows A Wet & Creepy World

Things are going Lovecraft for horror games it seems! Frogwares and Bigben Interactive will be taking players to the city of Oakmont in “The Sinking City”. The citizens are being tormented by supernatural forces and creatures coming from the water. You take on the role of a detective who is going through personal issues (like most detectives in these kinds of stories) and venturing into the city is not helping. “The Sinking City” is an open world game where you have to travel to different locations by boat. There are side missions along with the main quest, all of which can be completed in a multitude of ways. Seeing disturbing things will make the player loose sanity for a bit. The best part is fans of the works of Lovecraft can see many Easter eggs in relations to Lovecraft’s

Blu-ray Review: In The Mouth of Madness (1995)

Insurance investigator John Trent (Sam Neill) has found himself locked away in an insane asylum as the world turns to shit outside it’s walls. How in the hell did he end up here? Lovecraft surrogate Sutter Cane (Jurgen Prochnow); a huge cash cow for Arcane publishing. Said investigation takes our no-nonsense hero, an Arcane employee Linda Styles (Julie Carmen), to the small New England town of Hobbs End…a central location in Cane’s fiction. Once there they discover that not only are the characters in Cane’s stories real, but Cane himself holds the town in a grip of eldritch evil, as what he writes comes to demonic life! Will our hero escape from the madness alive? Okay, we already know he will…but what of the insanity he faces after? Filled to the brim with ancient evil, cursed villagers, and creatures

‘Call Of Cthulhu’ Game: Understanding The Madness

Sometime in 2018, the most anticipated pole playing horror game will bring new cosmic horrors to gamers everywhere, “The Call Of Cthulhu”. The game, from Cyanide Studio, is an adaptation of the RPG boardgame based on the famed short story written by H.P. Lovecraft in 1926 before being published in 1928. Players will take on the role of a private investigator named Edward Pierce as he investigates the mysterious death of an artist named Sarah Hawkins on the mysterious island of Darkwater. As Pierce, players can recruit others to help him investigate different cases on the island in an open-world setting, all the while facing your own sanity as madness slowly grips you. Death Is Permanent In ‘Song Of Horror’

When you die in a video game, usually you restart from a checkpoint or where you last saved, but many gamers like a challenge, now comes the gaming term that either excites or terrifies players, “permadeath”. Permadeath is a gaming slang term for “permanent death” means exactly as it sounds, when you die in a game that’s it, game over, you must now start from scratch. Most games either don’t have this mechanic as it’s more or less a personal challenge made by the player themselves or in some games like Wolfenstein: New Colossus it’s a difficulty that you can unlock, but for upcoming survival horror game Song of Horror by Protocol Games it’s the game’s main feature. To ease your concerns about the permadeath mechanic in Song of Horror, it’s only permanent for one of 16 playable characters, that’s right, you can control 16 different characters! The game’s protagonist, Daniel Noyer, is at the center of the game’s story

Movie Review: Black Wake Deftly Combines Found Footage and Lovecraft Style Mythology!

Black Wake details the investigation of comely scientist Dr. Luiza Moreira (Nana Gouvea) who begins reviewing every scrap of video evidence concerning a rash of deaths occurring on various beaches near the Atlantic Ocean. As she presses on, Moreira finds shocking evidence that a monstrous prehistoric parasite may be responsible for the murderous mayhem. Complicating matters are a shadow organization that is following Moreira’s every move, a strange cult tied to the parasite (lead by a homeless man that may be Patient Zero of the outbreak), and the lil’ matter of the murder victims returning to life as violence crazed zombie-like beings! Can Dr. Moreira solve the case, survive the forces conspiring against her, maintain her sanity, and save the world? The greatest (though by no means “only”) thing Black Wake has going for it is a truly excellent sense of mythology and world building courtesy of screen writers Jerry Janda, Carlos Keyes, and Jeremiah Kipp (who also directed). Movie Review: Howard Lovecraft & the Undersea Kingdom Brings Classic Horror Literature to a New Generation

Last year, Shout! Factory brought us Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom, an off-kilter, yet charming blend of kid-vid and the writings of horror maestro H.P. Lovecraft that blended world devouring ancient gods and doe-eyed, cutesy character design in a flick that worked way better than it had any right to. Well, a year has passed, and ol’ SF have brought us a new installment in the franchise titled Howard Lovecraft and the Undersea Kingdom…and I’m happy to say that much of the fun has been retained (hell, there have actually been some improvements), but all is not rainbows and puppies in R’lyeh… Howard Lovecraft and the Undersea Kingdom continues the adventures of a young Howard Philips Lovecraft who is charged with protecting the realms of R’lyeh and it’s surrounding locales with a bit of the ol’ inherited family magic. While contending with that, he must rescue his parents who find themselves all proper kidnapped by the mad King Abdul

Martian Insanity In ‘Moons Of Madness’

Norwegian game developer Rock Pocket Games is sending gamers to Mars where Lovecraftian horrors await in ‘Moons of Madness’. The game is a first-person psychological horror story where players take on the role of astronaut Shane Newhart who encounters supernatural events at the first research station on the red planet. The game takes a twist on the insanity element of the game where developers came up with a “Zone-Out” mechanic where players see through Shane’s eyes a mix of Shane’s past, events that have not happened yet or things Shane should not know but now does. These Zone-Out events are to add to the anxiety of the game for players making them question what information they are getting from these unique hallucinations are real or not. Keeping with true Lovecraft elements, when humanity thinks it understands the universe it throws a horrific curveball, exploring the unknown without really being prepared for it, ‘Moons of Madness’ is set to be released
