Movie Review: Dry Blood (2017)

Brian Barnes (Clint Carney, who also wrote the film) is a major league fuck-up. He’s pissed his life away with drugs n’ drink…and now he’s decided to retreat to a remote cabin (always a shit-hot idea in a fright flick) to try and dry his ass out with the help of his pal Anna (Jaymie Valentine). Complicating matters is the constant intrusion of a local sheriff (Kelton Jones, who directed the film as well), and some pesky, and sanity threatening, hallucinations and ghosts that may just reduce Barnes to a quivering mass of jelly before the yarn unspools! Oh Dry Blood, you magnificent, wildly uneven, bastard. For the first half of this film, you will doubtless ask yourself “Why on Earth am I trudging through this nonsense?” Scenes go on forever, Carney is a rather unlikable lead, and Valentine…well, let’s just be charitable and say her acting (and wig???) leave a shit-ton to be desired (though after the picture ends

Review: John Borowski’s Serial Killer Culture TV Is A Great Time Killer

“Serial killers are everywhere! Well, perhaps not in our neighborhood, but on our television screens, at the movie theatres, and in rows and rows of books at our local Borders or Barnes and Noble Booksellers.” – Pat Brown Serial killers have held a place in popular culture for some time. They and their fictional counterparts can be found in mainstream movies, books, television shows, and music. And by way of sensationalism, these real life monsters reached a somewhat mythical status, that makes them not unlike the boogeyman. In John Borowski’s documentary film, Serial Killer Culture, the viewer is provided a glimpse of a subculture that also focuses on these same true life killers from a more real and visceral artistic, historic, and cultural perspective. While I enjoyed John’s documentary, I could see he had only scratched the surface and I hoped at least a second installment was in the works. On March 1st, John continued forth on the journey he

John Borowski’s SERIAL KILLER CULTURE TV Coming Soon to Amazon

Serial killers, there’s no doubt that it’s a subject that fascinates us as a society. The evidence can be found in the popularity of movies and books chronicling the exploits of these real life monsters. Said fascination has even served as inspiration for the creation of fictional serial killers for the printed page and the big screen, who have taken their place in popular culture right beside their real life counter parts. But truth is, if you’ll pardon the cliché, stranger than fiction. One such person, who has spent time shedding light on the truths behind some of these historical homicidal maniacs, is author and filmmaker John Borowski. To date Borowski has made four documentary films about real life serial killers: Serial Killer Culture, Carl Panzram: The Spirit of Hatred and Vengeance, Albert Fish: In Sin He Found Salvation and my personal favorite of the bunch, H.H. Holmes: America’s First Serial Killer. Additionally he has written three books on the
