Short Film Review: The Squatter (2019)

The Squatter begins with one of your poor, unfortunate soul types catching static from some hoodlums. What does our protagonist do to escape from that miscreant maelstrom? Why take shelter in ye olde shit shack of a pub. Problem is, this beastly bar holds one of those sinister Satanic secrets that always leads to good ol’ bad vibes. Since our homeless hero has nowhere else to be, he stays… even though the truths he reveals about the eerie establishment put him balls deep in the horror biz. A beating by those aforementioned punks is lookin’ better and better, ain’t it? The first thing that struck me about The Squatter is how much it had that Lovecraft aesthetic I adore like a mutant mother fucker! It’s the combo of the dreary coastal setting nestled under slate grey skies as well as that ancient evil mumbo jumbo that just reeks of ol’ H.P.; and that is one hell of a feat; this

Short Film Review: The Devil and I (2018)

In Colonial Canada, a woman (Ariel Hansen) with an uneasy lot in life takes some verbal tongue lashin’ from a real son of a bitch of a man (James Kingstone)…a son of a bitch that freezes into a human statue as a large talking dog appears (yeah, sometimes I can’t believe the shit I type for this website either…but trust me, this is actually handled in a completely serious and somber manner). Any way it seems our heroine has been having affair with the man’s wife, and before you can say Son of Sam(uel Adams), that preternatural pup (played by Apollo with voice provided by Jesse Inocalla) gives our protagonist a plan to make things go her way. With it’s unique, period setting and near-fairy tale vibe, The Devil and I is an entertaining slice of short fright flick deviltry. Adding to the overall vibe of the piece are authentic costumes and manners of speaking that reflect the film’s 1800’s

14th Foot Washes Ashore In Canada

Over the past decade, there’s been a strange occurrence in the southernmost part of British Columbia, human feet washing ashore from the sea. Last week the 14th foot washed ashore on Gabriola Island further fueling concerns as well as conspiracy theories. The human feet that wash ashore are still inside shoes (in some cased hiking boots) leaving some to theories that there’s a serial killer cutting up victims and dumping them at sea, or that they’re victims of human trafficking, the theories go well beyond earthly possibilities to aliens. It’s been stated many times by the Canadian Mounted Police that what’s occurring is strangely natural in the case of human remains that are out at sea. As the human body breaks down and sinks, the feet, protected by the shoes that are able to float, detached from the legs and get carried by the ocean’s current bringing them to the shorelines of British Columbia. Not many are aware the coroner’s

TV Series Review: War of the Worlds: The Complete Series is a Fun Series Filled With Gore and Action!

Picking up thirty years after George Pal’s 1953 adaptation of H.G. Well’s classic novel War of the Worlds, the television incarnation tells the story of the resurrection of the alien invaders from Mars (retconned to Mor-Tax in this version) from their state of suspended animation (rumors of their death had apparently been highly exaggerated). Once back in action the aliens begin a plot to make Earth more like their home world…and fast as a veritable shit load of their friends are scheduled to arrive on our lil’ blue marble within five years time. Unfortunately for us, the aliens can now inhabit human bodies in order to travel among us undetected. To fight this unearthly menace, the government assembles a highly trained task force led by Dr. Harrison Blackwood (played by Jared Martin, whom fright flick fans may recognize from the Fulci death sport film The New Gladiators), an astrophysicist who’s parents were killed in the original 1953 invasion. Also along

All That’s Left: The Only Remains Of The Franklin’s Lost Expedition

WARNING: The following material includes pictures and information that some may find disturbing. One of maritime history’s biggest mysteries still baffles some experts to this day and leaves the door open for interpretation to what happened to the crew of what became known as Franklin’s Lost Expedition. The expedition was of the Northwest Passage to find a faster route for English ships to travel to Asia without having to cross the Atlantic and passing through Cape Horn (the southernmost tip of South America). The expedition led by Sir John Franklin departed from England in 1845. Franklin lead 128 men on this voyage who crewed the two recently modified warships turned icebreakers, the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror. The two ships made their way to the Canadian Arctic and were never seen again. Three years later an expedition was launch to find all 129 men. In 1850 one expedition made a mysterious discovery on Beechy Island, there was no sign of
