Blu-ray Review: Mean Man: The Story of Chris Holmes (2021)

Chris Holmes, the legendary guitarist on the first four studio releases from 1980’s shock-rockers W.A.S.P. (whom I bet more than one of you horror hounds out there were major fans of), and he of the vodka-drenched pool-set interview in Penelope Spheeris’ documentary The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years gets the solo spotlight in the latest Blu-ray release from Cleopatra (along with MVD Entertainment); Mean Man: The Story of Chris Holmes! Immediately we learn Chris is alive and well (a miracle in and of itself), married, living in Southern France, and touring with his latest band Mean Man (for which he performs vocal and guitar duty). As we follow the band on tour we get to see a great slice of “life on the road”… but of course stories are soon told of Holmes’ tumultuous days in W.A.S.P., and his near constant battles with frontman Blackie Lawless (who both screwed him over constantly, and got him on

Blu-ray Review: Family Portraits: A Trilogy of America (2003)

Family Portraits: A Trilogy Of America is an arcane anthology, so let’s see what each story has to offer our eerie eyeballs before we get a lil’ of that sweet, sweet overview action, shall we boils n’ ghouls? The first story up is Cutting Moments: As is the way of suburbia in Anytown U. S. of fuckin’ A., a wife and mother (Nicca Ray in a solid performance that runs the gamut from doubt to absolutely batshit purpose) plays homemaker while her sicko of a hubby (Gary Betsworth) is playin’ the Chester the Molester bag with their young son. Our heroine gets the idea that she should be the one getting her husband’s attention so she starts to try and bring him around with a lil’ make-up, a sexy dress, some self-mutilation… you know, the usual stuff. Well, this is a pitch-dark way to kick tings off and let me tell ya cats n’ creeps this one does indeed shock

A Killer Hides Amongst A Group Of Explorers In ‘Red Woods’

Head into the wilderness this February for Red Woods and watch as things go very wrong for a group of explorers. A group of urban explorers “gathers in Pennsylvania’s Redstone County Forest aiming to capture footage of abandoned houses and tell their stories. But these “house chasers” get more than they bargained for when, after a series of grisly discoveries, they become the subjects of a different kind of story… one in which they are the ones being chased. One among them has devised an insidious plot to construct a tale of terror using his victims’ own footage. With cameras rolling, they must navigate a killer’s “playground” of destruction, because their escape is not part of his script.” Red Woods, written and directed by Nicholas Danko, stars Michael Barnett, Jacquelynn Ware, Brian E. Movie Review: Hunter Hunter Is A Dark Horror Thriller Done Right

When I sat down and hit the play button to watch writer-director Shawn Linden’s Hunter Hunter I wasn’t sure what to expect. What I got was a great, truly dark film about family and desperation. The film centers on a couple, Joseph (Devon Sawa) and Anne (Camille Sullivan), and their daughter Reneè (Summer H. Howell) living off the grid in the remote wilderness. They make their money by trapping so when a wolf begins to steal the animals in their traps they set out to hunt it down. When they stumble across the wolf eating an arm they realize there is another killer (Nick Stahl) lurking in their own backyard. First off, let me give a warning to animal lovers, Hunter Hunter is going to be a bit hard for you to watch. Just cover your eyes when you have to though because the movie is worth it. Hunter Hunter is a dark, tension-filled, gripping tale and at some points
