Kira Mabon (Rebecca Forsythe), has a lot on her mind; such as worrying about growing old, and wondering just where in the unholy fuck she is after waking up from a one night stand in some rando apartment that everyone tells her is her long-time residence. What the actual fuck gives? Adding to her static is a neighbor (Lucie Aron) who professes her love for our heroine while trying to help her make sense of her newfound existence, and a Dr. Crober (genre legend Barbara “Re-Animator” Crampton) who treats her skin condition (think excessive peeling)… not that Kira can remember jack and/or shit about it… but let me tell ya, that Doc may be unnecessary as K-baby discovers that utilizing someone else’s skin (or that of a fresh stiff) can cure her condition right quick; so the body count begins to rise as apparently lookin’ good is more important than a nasty murder or twelve… Co-writer (along with genius creator

Scream Queen Barabra Crampton (You’re Next, Chopping Mall, Re-Animator) and I sat down to discuss her role in “Into the Dark’s” July episode “Culture Shock”. “Culture Shock” follows a young Mexican woman in pursuit of the American Dream, who crosses illegally into the United States, only to find herself in an American nightmare. The episode also stars Martha Higareda (Altered Carbon and No Maches Frida), Richard Cabral (Mayans MC and American Crime), Shawn Ashmore (X-Men), and Creed Bratton (The Office). Horror Fuel: “First let me confess, I love Chopping Mall.” Barbara Crampton: “Oh (laughter)! Oh my god, so many people tell me that. It’s fun, right?” Horror Fuel: “It is. Blumhouse’s July’s episode of “Into the Dark” is an American dream turned into a nightmare for a group of immigrants trying to cross the border. “Culture Shock” takes aim at some of the hardships those seeking asylum experience, with a terrifying twist. With the recent headlines about the horrors of immigration and the mistreatment of those who seek out a better life, this episode was perfectly timed and I think its timing makes it even more intense. The episode centers on Marisol, played by Martha Higareda, a young pregnant woman who strikes out with a coyote, along with Santo (Richard Cabral), and several other immigrants. While on the run they suddenly wake up in a strangely perfect town. While everyone seems to be happy (too happy) Marisol somehow knows that something strange is going on and nothing is what it seems. As she’s guided, or guarded, depending on your view, by a strange woman (Barbra Crampton) we see that she
