In two all-new Shock Docs, discovery+ presents the real stories, recounted by the eyewitnesses and victims themselves, and supported by exclusive audio and hypnosis tapes, of the most fascinating and frightening close encounters ever to be reported in ALIEN ABDUCTION: BETTY AND BARNEY HILL and ALIEN ABDUCTION: TRAVIS WALTON, both streaming on discovery+ on February 18th. FX’s New “Alien” Series Serves As An Origin Story Of Sorts

We’ve been reporting about the upcoming “Alien” spin-off series for a while now. Today we have new details. Noah Hawley who is helming the series revealed to Esquire that the FX series will be set on Earth, a first for the franchise. The series’ first season will explore advancements in artificial intelligence and the development of cyborgs. It is an origin story of sorts. “It’s set on Earth of the future. At this moment, I describe that as Edison versus Westinghouse versus Tesla. Someone’s going to monopolize electricity. We just don’t know which one it is … In the movies, we have this Weyland-Yutani Corporation, which is clearly also developing artificial intelligence-but what if there are other companies trying to look at immortality in a different way, with cyborg enhancements or transhuman downloads? Which of those technologies is going to win?” When it comes to the series lack of iconic xenomorphs, Hawley had this to say: Alien is a fascinating

Movie Review: 2021’s Alien Invasion Fillm ‘Risen’ Is Left Lacking

Writer-director Eddie Arya’s sci-fi thriller Risen will land On Demand later this August. We got the chance to check it out and here’s what we thought. Starring Nicole Schalmo, Jack Campbell, and Dominic Stone, Risen begins with a family sitting down to dinner before suddenly the house begins to shake as something crashes into the nearby field. This is the first contact with something otherworldly. The film then skips ahead to find the girl, as an adult and a doctor who the military assigns to a case similar to the one from her childhood. An entire town is dead, or are they? The trouble really begins when the dead begin to rise as the aliens take over their bodies. Risen starts off with a good pace but two scenes in, it slows down like it’s stuck in quicksand. And it stays that way with long lulls between the action throughout the entire movie. Save for a handful of scenes, the

An Update For The Upcoming “Alien” Series

The Alien universe is expanding once again, this time with a new TV series for FX from showrunner Noah Hawley, the man behind “Fargo” and “Legion.” First announced back in December of 2020, the series is produced by Ridley Scott. While details are being kept quiet, we do know that the seventh installment of the franchise will not be about Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), instead it will be a completely new story and will be set on Earth. Howley revealed a few details during a recent interview with Vanity Fair. Hawle said “The alien stories are always trapped… trapped in a prison, trapped in a spaceship. I thought it would be interesting to open it up a little bit so that the stakes of ‘What happens if you can’t contain it?’ are more immediate. Those are great monster movies, but they’re not just monster movies,” Hawley continued, “They’re about humanity trapped between our primordial, parasitic past and our artificial intelligence future—and

Movie Review: The Dustwalker (2019)

Tremors meets Dawn of the Dead meets Alien in writer-director Sandra Sciberras’ sci-fi horror The Dustwalker. In this Aussie film, one by one the residents of a small isolated town become infected, turning into brutal, bloodthirsty zombie-like creatures that are on a mission, spread the infection, or kill everyone they come in contact with, including loved ones. Those who are struggling to survive look to Joanne Sharp (Jolene Anderson), the local chief of police for guidance along with her right-hand man, Luke (Richard Davies). Things go from zero to sixty fast. The blood starts being shed in the first few minutes. Once the chaos begins, there are bodies and blood everywhere. And while the hints that something otherworldly involved pop up bit by bit once the big twist is revealed it’s all-out war. The villain in this tale is a clever combination of imagination, sci-fi, and science. One of the key elements to the infection takes inspiration from nature, the
