Writer-Director Casper Kelly Discusses Adult Swim’s Surprise Horror Movie

Adult Swim’s first feature horror film made its debut earlier in the week under the guise of a Yuletide Log. Moments into the video of the crackling fireplace we begin to hear talking and soon we see a murder. Then we watch as a group of friends enters the frame only for them to quickly begin to experience both paranormal events and a deranged killer. The unexpected, entertaining movie is from Adult Swim veteran Casper Kelly, who directs after writing Adult Swim series such as “Too Many Cooks” and “Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell”, as well as the hit Nicholas Cage movie, Mandy. I spoke with Kelly about The Fire Place, the movie within the Yule Log video. That is not only available on Adult Swim, but HBOMax as well. https://soundcloud.com/kelli-r-marchman-mcneely/an-interview-with-adult-swims-casper-kelly?si=686d338ece974c858d0afd51599b7137&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing Transcript: Kelli: “It’s nice to meet you too. Movie Review: Hulu’s “Grimcutty”

While scrolling through Hulu’s “Huluween” section I stumbled across a movie titled Grimmcutty. The art caught my attention so I decided to give it a try. Here’s what I thought. Warning, there maybe a few spoilers. First, let me fill you in on what the movie is about. Written and directed by John Ross, Grimmcuttry centers on a teen and her little brother who must find a way to stop a monster brought to life by the hysteria of their parents. After the kids’ parents find out about Grimcutty, which they believe is a social media challenge, they go into overdrive and believe the answer is taking away the kids’ devices. The more concerned the parents get the angrier they become, which drives Grimcutty to attack. The movie speaks to two points. The first is the world’s obsession with social media challenges and how dangerous they can be, remember the Tide Pod Challenge? The second is the lack of trust

Movie Review: Hellraiser (2022) Offers More Pain Than Pleasure

The horror genre is abuzz about Hulu’s new Hellraiser, directed by David Bruckner, so, does it live up to the hype? In the beginning, we meet Riley, a young woman who is struggling with addiction while living with her intensely judgemental brother, his partner, and another roommate. After stealing a puzzle box with her boyfriend all hell breaks loose and the cenobites are unleashed, but she’s got a plan. First thing’s first, the movie has a character problem. While the character of Riley is fleshed out, the other’s aren’t. They are cardboard cut out characters and they are simply there to suffer. One of the biggest sources of debate among fans is the new female Pinhead. I have to say, I was rather impressed by Jamie Clayton’s portrayal of “The Preist.” She features a similar look and her voice, only slightly feminine, was a great choice. As for the story, it held classical elements of the franchise, cenobites, chains, suffering,
