Consumed By Nightmares: An Interview With Integrity’s Dwid Hellion

Integrity is a band that has been crafting malevolent, horror-influenced metallic hardcore for nearly thirty years. As pitch-dark as it is sonically brutal, Integrity’s music has influenced countless hardcore, punk, death/thrash/black metal, and grind/noise acts. The band’s twelfth full-length album, Howling, for the Nightmare Shall Consume is set to be released on Friday, July 14 on Relapse Records, and Horror Fuel was able to speak with Integrity’s frontman, Dwid Hellion, on topics ranging from the release of the new record, to his favorite fright flicks and the horror of the Bible. Horror Fuel: Howling… is the tenth tenth full length from Integrity. How would you compare it to previous releases? Dwid Hellion: I would not compare any of the albums with one another. They each have their own personality and sound. Though, they are still recognizable as Integrity albums, they each offer a sound that differs from the others. With Howling… we worked on it for two years and tried

Album Review: Explore Your Worst Nightmares With Horrific

Horrific – Your Worst Nightmare Have you ever wished there was an original metal band that perfectly captured the essence of ’80s heavy metal horror flicks Black Roses, The Gate, Rock ‘n’ Roll Nightmare and the like? Well, hessian hordes, Hells Headbangers Records have just answered your prayers with this re-issue of Horrific’s Your Worst Nightmare. Originally released in 2009, the debut, and to-date only Horrific album is the brainchild of Slasher Dave (Acid Witch) and Billy Nocera (Razorback Records/Surgikill), two fellas with near-unequaled love of both horror and metal. Every track is a fantastic hybrid of death metal, thrash, punk, and axe-wielding, traditional heavy metal; the vocals are mostly a low, gutteral death growl, while the guitars are equal parts zombie filth-chug and wailing noodle-wizard. Though nearly every song is a standout smash, the album’s “Freebird,” if you will, has to be “Metal Cemetery”. Two minutes, thirty seconds of death-thrash glory, the song will worm its way into your

Rebel Flesh Summon Satanic Seduction In New Music Video

Austin, Texas horror punks Rebel Flesh revel in all things sinister and sexy in the music video for new song, “Shadows”. The song, a sonic midpoint between the impishly playful vibe of punk/power pop heroes the Vibrators and the syrupy-smooth sound of the late 1980s Ramones, is perfectly accompanied by footage of a creepy cutie kneeling in a pentagram, playing with a blood-drenched dagger, and the band plying their craft. Later in the video, the demonic baddie summoned by the seductive Satanist comes a’ calling, and she doesn’t seem too thrilled. What did she think was going to happen? “Shadows” is a breath of fresh air in the overcrowded morgue that is horrorpunk, as is all of the band’s material to date. Now, all we need is a co-headlining world tour with these Texas terrors and Swedish scare-rockers the Dahmers, and all will be right in the world. Watch the new “Shadows” music video below.

Integrity Bring Nightmares To Life In New Music Video

Ahead of the July 14 release of Integrity‘s tenth studio album, Howling, For the Nightmare Shall Consume, the metallic hardcore act have unleashed their latest music video. A spooky, black-and-white visual nightmare, the clip for “Hymn for the Children of the Black Flame” was directed by Unproduction‘s Jimmy Hubbard. Of Hubbard and the video, Integrity frontman Dwid Hellion states: “The horrifically stunning aesthetic of director, Jimmy Hubbard has taken us deep into the realm of forbidden nightmare and religious inversion. Hubbard has breathed a new hell into our song, Hymn For The Children Of The Black Flame.” Those that like their horror music brutal, enraged, and apocalyptic, view “Hymn for the Children of the Black Flame” below. Howling, For the Nightmare Shall Consume will be out on Relapse Records on Friday, July 14.

Darkness Visible is Keeping Horror in Metal!

Horrorfuel.com got contacted earlier today by the band Darkness Visible. This Australian-based theater rock band are part of a segment of the horror world that I feel is far too underestimated and far too rarely recognized. I wrote an article a little bit ago about an Alice Cooper concert and how he was the godfather of horror-music: well, if Mr. Cooper is the godfather, he can certainly be proud of his Darkness Visible children. Bassist David Black wants the world to know that his band is releasing their ninth music video and that this one is “a bit over the top.” The song is called Breaking Point. Tragically, I had not heard of this band yet so I did some research. I watched the other eight videos and they are truly mini horror movies with accompanying music to tell a tale of darkness. I loved them. What I did wonder about is what “a bit over the top” meant. Well,

CD Review – Midnight Syndicate Creates an Awesome Soundtrack to Zombies!!! The Board Game

Creating a soundtrack for a board game. How exactly does anyone do that? Well, one only needs to point said query to the masterminds/madmen behind Midnight Syndicate – Edward Douglas and Gavin Goszka. Their most recent release, ZOMBIES!!! Official Board Game Soundtrack, offers a definitive answer to this question. Back in my D&D (which they have also done an album base on, WOOHOO!), Call of Cthulhu, Shadowrun and “roll playing game that a group of us created, but came up with no name for” days, I remember game-play situations taking shape in my mind as if they were scenes in a movie. I imagine that composing music for the elements and situations within this game must have been done in a similar fashion. Then again…maybe that’s not how Douglas and Gozska conceptualized the scoring of ZOMBIES!!!. Seriously, what do I know about composing music in any way, shape or form, let alone composing the way they do? Nothing. What I

Dark Horse And Slayer Team Up For A New Comic

Attention comic geeks and metal heads: Dark Horse is teaming up with Slayer for a new comic, ‘Slayer: Repentless’. The first issue set to land on shelves on January 25, 2017. Want more great news? ‘Metalocalypse’ writer Jon Schnepp and ‘Twilight Zone’ artist Guiu Vilanoa are both involved in the 3-part mini-series. Eiser Award-winner Glenn Fabry is handling the comics’ covers. It’s been my honor to chronicle the bloody road trip that is the Slayer comic series from Dark Horse/Nuclear Blast,” said Jon Schnepp. “Using the band’s music and lyrics from their three decades of albums, while crossing over and through the Repentless music videos by BJ McDonnell, I have woven a tale of betrayal, hate, perspective, loyalty, family, and murder that will need to be experienced through the comic books’ pages.” The story centers on a “raging road trip down a bloodstained highway, a tale of the doomed and damned.” According to the Dark Horse website the comic falls
