Panic sets in as the family realizes that they may not be able to save the bride from afar. Movie Review: Deathdream (1974) – Blue Underground 4Kk/Blu-ray combo

Deathdream is the kind of flick that begins featuring the horrors of ‘Nam and the value of a man that can carve a roast all in equal measure (for the record, Roastmaster General’s son Andy is who we see buying the farm in Vietnam). Anyway, the family learns their son is dead and begins grieving… except later that night ol’ Andy comes home alive and…well alive anyway (after hitching a ride with a trucker who winds up dead after some high-larious antics at an all-night diner). Over the next few days Andy acts weird A.F.; he’s quiet, pale, and only offers a small smirk to anyone that talks to him…plus he picks up some new hobbies like wandering around cemeteries in the dead of night and simultaneously beating down androgynous kids who karate chop him with one hand while strangling a dog with the other (an underrated talent to be sure). Well, it turn out ol’ Awesome Andy is some

Movie Review: Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker (1981) – Severin 4K/Blu-ray combo

High school senior Billy (Jimmy McNichol) has been raised by his Aunt Cheryl (an absolutely dynamite Susan Tyrrell, Angel and it’s sequel Avenging Angel) since the death of his parents in an automobile accident… and let me just say, that particular incident is portrayed as some Final Destination-level shit, and with each passing frame the tragedy becomes side-splitting comedy as the film engages in the largest example of overkill you are ever likely to see! Any how Cheryl is psychotically possessive of Billy-boy… actually she’s just plain psychotic… and horny, an award-losing combination that results in her stabbing (and killing) a television repairman, Phil Brody (Caskey Swaim) by name, who refuses her amorous advances. Her excuse was that he was attempting to sexually assault her… a huge-ass lie that is soon proven to be absolute bullshit by the revelation that Brody was a homosexual. That particular factoid is uncovered by hard-ass bigot/extreme homophobe Detective Joe Carlson (Bo Svenson, Walking Tall,

Offering assistance are handyman Paul (Roy Witham, who appears to be one highball away from starring in a Mick Fleetwood biopic) and maid Mary (Dorothy Davis)… and the family will need it as Cathy begins acting downright strange after finding a creepy doll in the domicile’s attic. To wit; Cathy begins to show signs that she is possessed by the spirit of George’s deceased sister… like making naked statues explode, controlling objects through telekinesis, making animals do her bidding, killing
