‘The Wrong Woman’ Is The Right Novel – Book Review

Plot The Wrong Woman, author Leanne Kale Sparks’ debut novel, is a classic and realistic police thriller novel that is remarkably engaging. The plot follows FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck and Denver Police Detective Adam Taylor as they investigate their own respective cases only to find links between the two. Full of suspense, drama, action, and very realistic (as far as I know) investigating, the plot of this novel is full of layers, depth, twists and turns, and intelligent intensity. With two major crimes and two investigators, through much of this novel there are really two plots. Both of them are extremely strong and equally gripping. Sparks really succeeded at creating a real sense of urgency that runs through the novel and keeps the plots equally intense, then increasing that as they weave together to make one very complete thriller. Characters Leanne Kale Sparks is obviously very gifted at creating characters. Each character brings something important to the story and

‘Harvest Nights’ Gives Everything You Want In Horror And More

Plot “A Lovecraftian horror tale inspired by Native American Myths and colonial times.” This is the description given for Ahmed Alameed’s horror novella Harvest Nights. When comparing to anything, immediate expectations are set and comparing to Lovecraft sets those expectations to lofty heights. With that said, Harvest Nights meets and surpasses those expectations. This unpredictable historical fiction is based in Native American Lore and woven into a gory, twisted, journey into unearthly and unnerving darkness. Based around the famous Comet of 1822, the cosmic event thins the veil between our world and the supernatural world releasing creatures who will do anything to eat. The plot is experienced and told through the young boy Chua (Snake), who teams with a group of people who will do anything to survive. Characters The characters in this story are built exceptionally well. Using both fictional and historical characters, it is a challenge to blend both fictional and historical information…Alameed does this seamlessly. Chua, as

‘In The Land Of Dead Horses’ is A Supernatural Western That Will Terrify And Excite You

Plot Just right off the bat: What an amazing plot! Author Bruce McCandless III has created a masterpiece with In the Land of Dead Horses. A supernatural horror, gory, western, whodunit novel wrapped in history and mystery. Mayan descendants, in Pre-WWI Texas, resurrect one of their ancient gods to take vengeance and restore their lands and people. Their plot is stumbled upon by a Texas Ranger named Jewel T. Lightfoot and a supernatural battle between good vs. evil begins. It is a heart-racing-read that will keep you racing through the pages and guessing what will happen next…but you will guess wrong. This novel really could stand on its own as a Texas cowboy action-mystery, but when you add in all the other chilling elements, the novel becomes so much more. Not only does the plot have depth and intensity, but how it is presented by McCandless is phenomenal. Characters Texas Ranger Jewel T. Lightfoot, aging silver miner Ernesto Zavala and

P.D. Alleva’s ‘Golem’ Is A Trip Into Darkness That You Won’t Recover From – Book Review

Plot “The devil is in the details” according to author P.D. Alleva in his novel Golem. This phenomenal book starts off with a phenomenal plot. A detective story, a horrific nightmare, a thriller, a view into the occult, and the spiraling of insanity all rolled up onto one package called Golem. As newly-badged Detective John Ashton digs deeper into a very public missing child case, he digs up much more than he bargained for and much more than even he believes. This novel is a journey into the darkest and most vile parts of horror and personally, I couldn’t put it down. As the the story races forward, the plot that Alleva reveals gets more and more intriguing as the devils in the dark swallow everything. Characters There are not a ton of characters in this novel (nor does there need to be) and the characters there are, are very memorable. Alleva stays away from from overused cliches while creating

‘Cold Spell: The Halloween Curse Of Winterhill’ Is The Perfect Way To Start The Season

Plot The idea of a witch cursing a town and then coming back to fulfill that curse is a plot that has a special place in horror. Personally, I love when people resurrect plots that we know and love and put their own spin on it. In the middle school-aimed Cold Spell: The Halloween Curse of Winterhill, Jeff C. Carter shows his unique ability to take something we all know and love and make it feel new, fun and scary! In this plot, Carter introduces the witch, but then spends most o the novel focusing on the characters, making us get to know them, become friends with them, and care about what happens to them…then the carpet gets pulled away from underneath everything. Halloween stories (like Christmas movies) create the world of Halloween we all wish existed in our celebrations. A world where every house is adorned with jack-o-lanters, where every neighbor hands out full sized chocolate bars, and where

M – You know, for reading I read a lot of horror and sci-fi, but one of my favorite authors is completely out of the genre. Elmore Leonard and his crime stories. The way he puts things together, his dialogue and the way he treats his characters. There’s actually a book I wrote that is kind of
