Back From The Ashes!: Game Review Of ‘Shadowgate’(Remake)

Gather around and I’ll tell you the tale of a legendary game that rose from the graveyard of game lore to make a triumphant return! Gamers worth their weight in hours of gameplay tell tales of an old adventure point-and-click game on PC in 1987 where you venture into a castle to vanquish an old warlock after traversing through the maze of a castle. This game is called Shadowgate. It spawned two sequels, Beyond Shadowgate that came out in 1987 too, and Shadowgate 64: Trials of the Four Towers that came out in 1999 for the Nintendo 64. Now in the present time, Zojoi and Abstraction brought the legendary game back with a complete and epic update, and they were kind enough to allow me to try it out. I present to you fellow adventurers, the remake of Shadowgate. In this first-person point-and-click game, you play as a young warrior who was summoned by the wizard Lakmir who is the

‘Amnesia Collection’ On Xbox One Turns Up The Horror With New “Hard Mode”

Coming tomorrow (September 28th, 2018) Xbox One fans will be able to play the horror gaming experience, “Amnesia: The Dark Descent” as it arrives at the console but it’s not coming alone! “Amnesia Collection” will include all three titles from the series including the DLC story “Amnesia: Justine”, and the sequel “Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs”. The first person horror game takes players on a journey into madness as players must balance keeping the protagonist’s sanity level down while trying to explore their surroundings, having to rely on tinderboxes (matches) and lamp oil (for your trusty lamp) to light the way and help you feel safe. There’s a twist to the game’s arrival on XB1 as it will include a new difficulty mode for “Amnesia: The Dark Descent”, a hard mode. Normal gameplay is challenging enough but the developers are upping the ante. In hard mode: – Manual saves only, and saving costs four tinderboxes. – Oil and tinderboxes are

A Game 65 Million Years In The Making: Final Thoughts On ‘Jurassic World Evolution’

The awesome folks over at Frontier Developments gave me the chance to play their business simulation game, “Jurassic World Evolution” where players can play the role of the manager of Jurassic World located on the island chain known as The Five Deaths. There are five levels (islands) to play and each has something unique about them and, one very special island that’s a sandbox mode. On each island, you will be given tasks provided to you by three divisions, science, entertainment, and security. When you complete a task for a division will result in money and potential to unlock new dinosaur DNA or perks for your buildings but you must be careful as completing one task may affect your standings with the others and if one division is ignored for too long, they will sabotage buildings or gates to enclosures. The parks have star ratings and generally when you reach three stars the next level unlocks. To keep the numbers

Gameplay Footage Of ‘World War Z’ Emerges

At the big electronics and gaming expo E3, fans and onlookers got a chance to watch gameplay footage from the upcoming “World War Z” game, which promises to be more like the book than the movie. One of the developers from Sabre Interactive was on hand to give more insight for what fans will be expecting to experience. The game will be a four player co-op where you can pick from four different characters specific to each of the three levels you’re playing on meaning there are twelve different individuals to play as. The three levels take place in New York, Moscow, and Jerusalem where players will be facing approximately 500 AI zombies at once! Each level has three chapters where players scavenge for items to use for making traps and barriers to hold off the hoards of the (still debatable) undead. Though the game and developers say the game is unique, many gamers have criticized the claim and drawn

‘Resident Evil 2’ Remake Looks Good, Scary Good

It’s been rumored ever since Capcom did a remake of “Resident Evil” that they would remake their equally popular sequel. Well at E3 it was confirmed, the remake is coming January of 2019! The reveal trailer showed a mix of cinematic and gameplay images confirming one thing to veteran fans of the original… this is a terrifying new game! Like the more recent “Resident Evil” games (with the exception of “RE7”), the game will be an over the shoulder third-person game. The main focus of course is it’s obvious the game was strapped into a chair and pumped full of nightmare fuel. The setting looks darker, grittier, and bloodier the way a zombie video game should be. If the remake of “Resident Evil 2” looks terrifying, imagine when they remake “Resident Evil 3: Nemesis”!

Questions Are Answered, A Review Of ‘Resident Evil 7’s DLC, ‘Not A Hero’

I waited until midnight of the 12th and got the free DLC ‘Not a Hero’, installed it and played it. The only complaint I had about the game was that it was an hour long, being a free download I guess there’s really nothing to be too upset about. The controls for the game are the same as the main story but you’re equipped with only two weapons, a high powered pistol, and a semi-automatic shotgun. You also have a knife and grenades. The options you set up for the main story carry over into the DLC (screen brightness, subtitles, language, etc). Onto the story (Possible Spoilers) first thing, if you have not played the main story, play that first or else the ‘Not a Hero’ makes no sense. The story takes place immediately after the events of the main story. You play as Chris Redfield, a veteran character from the game series, before I continue I’ll address the big

Video Game Review: Call of Duty Black Ops 3

Or as I like to call it “BLOPS TRES”. “Call of Duty Black Ops 3” is the latest installment in the long running series. What started out as the original WW2 shooter became the highly innovative modern shooter and has now become the financial juggernaut of first person shooters but because of this the originality in the series has been dwindling over the past few years and although “BLOPS TRES” promised to reinvigorate the series it unfortunately has not and instead is another dry installment to add to the ever growing collection of boring games that is the “Call of Duty” series. Let me start this out just by saying I liked the “Call of Duty” franchise. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every game it was not until recently where I’ve started falling out of love with it. After the mess that was “COD: Ghosts” and the strangeness of “Advanced Warfare” I was really feeling fatigued with the series but when they

Video Game Review: Thief

“Thief” where do I begin? “Thief” is a 2014 reboot of the PC exclusive stealth series of the same name that was popular back in the 90’s. The series was loved for it’s open world, innovative stealth mechanics and a likable main protagonists. Unfortunately publisher Square Enix and developer Eidos Montreal threw all that out and replaced it with black archaic background #246980, strange game-play and generic grisly archetype #410. As I am writing this review I am listening to Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” which only makes me more depressed to write this review because I really liked the “Thief” series. the original series came out at around the time first person shooters were starting to evolve. We got some of the biggest most influential shooters to date! “DOOM”, “Half Life”, “Halo” and “Thief” , not only did this game have nostalgia credit behind itself but it also had a really good developer handing it. Eidos Montreal who were responsible

Video Game Review: Outlast

Happy Halloween everyone! One of my favorite holidays personally. Free candy, awesome costumes and marathons of horror movies and games. This entire month I’ve been playing horror games non-stop and I’m going to review the 4 games I played. I was gonna review “Alien: Isolation” this week but since the sequel was just announced so I’m gonna review 2013’s surprise hit “Outlast”. “Outlast” was released to PC in 2013 and came out to great success both financially and critically, even getting better reviews then its competition “Amnesia”. Do to “Outlast”s success Canadian developer Red Barrels ported it to new-gen consoles bringing “Outlast” to a whole new audience and making it a mainstay series. So what is “Outlast” about? In “Outlast” you play as Miles Upshur, a freelance photojournalist who was tipped off by a whistle blower about radical experiments being performed on the mental patients at “Mount Massive Asylum” in Colorado and the world must know what is happening. Miles
