Decisions, Consequences, And Blood: Final Thoughts Of ‘Vampyr’

WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD! SKIP DOWN FOR FINAL THOUGHTS. After literal hours and days of playing, I’ve completed “Vampyr”. The game by DONTNOD Entertainment and Focus Home Interactive that’s a vampire tale told uniquely through the eyes of a “newborn” vampire and well-known doctor Jonathan Reid. Reid becomes an Ekon, a “vampire”, after returning home to London after serving three years in the First World War, the city is in the midst of the Spanish Flu epidemic. After becoming an Ekon, Reid accidentally kills his sister and vows revenge on the one who turned him into a creature of the night. Reid is sheltered at a hospital headed by a Doctor whose part of a secret society that studies and works with Ekons. RTS Game ‘Iron Harvest’ Kickstarter Surpasses $1,250,000

Kingart Games’ Kickstarter campaign was more than just successful; it was a colossal triumph for the independent developer whose Kickstarter is only 48 hours away (at this time) from ending. What game could they have come up with that would amass such a following? Iron Harvest a game that takes place in an alternate universe where giant mechanical soldiers fight alongside infantry units in an alternate post-WWI Europe. Its 1920+ Europe is recovering from the Great War where giant mechanical soldiers stomped across battlefields. When the war ended, these mechs became part of everyday life but now forces from the shadows are planning to destabilize Europe and engulf the world into another great war where control of the world is at stake. The idea of the game came from the works of Polish artist Jakub Różalski, which depicts giant robots being used in the European countryside. Now onto the game itself! Iron Harvest is a real-time-strategy (RTS) game where players

William Seabrook: Zombies, Cannibalism, Tormented Mind

While researching for a previous article, I came across an interesting fellow named William Seabrook. Seabrook’s occupation was as a Writer and Reporter but the rest of his credentials are Occultist, Explorer, Traveler, Cannibal, and Journalist. I understand if like me after reading that, you heard a record scratch and are currently looking back to make sure you read that right. Yes, casually tucked in among his other titles is Cannibal. What makes that more ironic or fascinating is that Seabrook is credited as one of the first authors to introduce zombies to western culture, not the kind we know today but the actual zombies of Haitian origins steeped deep in Voodoo lore. I know, I know, “Get to the part where he’s a Cannibal!” alright But first some background. Seabrook was a traveler and explorer who made a name for himself by writing articles for magazines like Cosmopolitan, Reader’s Digest, and Vanity Fair that detailed his adventures to parts

Survival Horror & WWI In ‘Ad Infinitum’

‘Ad Infinitum’ means again and again in the same way; forever. Kind of along the lines of the saying, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” That seems to be hinting at what’s going to happen to players when they play StrixLab’s upcoming survival horror game, ‘Ad Infinitum’. According to the StrixLap website, the game takes place in a trench during the First World War but there are horrific creatures stalking around in them. While playing in first person, you have to solve puzzles, avoid traps and of course, avoiding the creatures whiles the lines of insanity and the horrors of war become blurred. The game is set to be released for PC and possibly for Console, the release date is unknown at this time but after seeing the trailer, I hope it’s soon and does make it to console!
