Game Review: ‘World War Z: Aftermath’

It’s no secret, people like to kill zombies, but how would they fair staring down a massive hoard of them barreling towards them like a tsunami of bloody flesh and nightmare fuel? Well, now you can in World War Z: Aftermath. A big thanks to Saber Interactive for the opportunity to try out this game! The game takes place in the same universe as Paramount Picture’s film World War Z where players team up to survive the massive hoard of zombies. It should be noted that World War Z: Aftermath is an addition to the main game and not a standalone story. Aftermath features new characters and two new levels, Rome and Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula. The biggest addition to the game is the option to have the game in First-Person, which added a whole new dynamic to the intensity of the game. I have not played the game before now and after a few hours going solo with AI teammates;

After years of rumors and false starts, the sequel to World War Z is officially dead in the water. David Fincher‘s WWZ 2, was set to begin production later year and film in Thailand, Spain, and Atlanta, Georgia, but has now officially been canceled according to The Playlist, likely due to budget concerns. It had been stated that the sequel would have had a smaller budget than the original which cost over $200 million to make, but evidently was still too costly to make. Brad Pitt would have reunited with Fincher for the movie. The two has previously worked on several films together including Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Are you disappointed? Let us know.

‘World War Z 2’ Is Back From The Dead And Will Begin Filming

After numerous delays, including losing its original director J.A. Bayona, and fans’ mounting fears that sequel to World War Z would never be seen, the second film has finally landed on Paramount’s schedule. Directed by David Fincher, the film will return Brad Pitt to the world of the infected. Dennis Kelly (Black Sea) is on board to pen the script. During a conversation with Variety producers Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner revealed that the film is set to begin shooting in June of 2019. That would put World War Z 2 being released sometime in 2020 or 2021. The good news here is that the film still has life left in it yet.

Gameplay Footage Of ‘World War Z’ Emerges

At the big electronics and gaming expo E3, fans and onlookers got a chance to watch gameplay footage from the upcoming “World War Z” game, which promises to be more like the book than the movie. One of the developers from Sabre Interactive was on hand to give more insight for what fans will be expecting to experience. The game will be a four player co-op where you can pick from four different characters specific to each of the three levels you’re playing on meaning there are twelve different individuals to play as. The three levels take place in New York, Moscow, and Jerusalem where players will be facing approximately 500 AI zombies at once! Each level has three chapters where players scavenge for items to use for making traps and barriers to hold off the hoards of the (still debatable) undead. Though the game and developers say the game is unique, many gamers have criticized the claim and drawn

The Safest Place During A Zombie Apocalypse?

Back in 2015 at the American Physical Society (APS) meeting in San Antonio, researchers from Cornell University presented a talk on Statistical Mechanics involving a zombie outbreak in the United States to a standing only room. Max Brooks’ book, World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, inspired the researchers to run a real-world simulation of how a zombie virus outbreak as seen in Brooks’ book would play out in the real world. “Modeling zombies takes you through a lot of the techniques used to model real diseases, albeit in a fun context,” says Alex Alemi one of the graduate students who worked on the research with fellow graduate students. The simulation showed surprising results, in the simulation the zombie outbreak does not occur in many areas at once, it starts in New York City, the more likely place any major outbreak would arise in any major US city but the big apple was used in the test.

Gamers and fans of the film and book ‘World War Z’ will be able to take their love of the story a step further and actually be in the middle of the body-piling chaos along with friends in the upcoming 4 player Co-Op video game by Saber Interactive. The overall story is unknown but takes players to recognizable locations from the film as well as some locations that were not in the film. Players can make traps, upgrade weapons, build barriers, and use their surroundings to keep back and survive the (debatable) undead hoard. My prediction is the game will resemble that of ‘Left 4 Dead’ and ‘Killing Floor’ both game series focus on teamwork and reaching objectives while surviving an onslaught of zombies.
