Movie Review: VFW Is Entertaining As Hell

When you hear the names Stephen Lang, William Sadler, Fred Williamson, Martin Kove, David Patrick Kelly, and George Wendt you automatically think that you’re in for a good movie, so when I heard about Joe Begos’ horror flick VFW I was psyched. I eagerly waited for my chance to see it and last night I did. The film follows a group of veterans hanging out at their local VFW when a young woman, “Lizard (Sierra McCormick),” runs in with a bag of drugs stolen from a dealer. The veterans feel obligated to protect the girl and when the dealer’s people come for the drugs it’s an all-out fight for survival, but the group is not going out without a fight. As always Lang doesn’t disappoint. The man must have been a lumberjack in a previous life, he is 68 and swings an ax in like it was what he was meant to do. He is 100% a badass! He plays

Veterans Are In For The Fight Of Their Lives In ‘VFW’ – Starring Stephen Lang

A group of war veterans finds themselves in the biggest battle of their lives against punk mutants is Joe Begos‘ VFW. Written by Max Brallier and Matthew McArdle, the film stars Stephen Lang, William Sadler, Martin Kove, David Patrick Kelly, Sierra McCormick, Tom Williamson, Travis Hammer and Dora Madison with George Wendt and Fred Williamson. In VFW, a typical night for a group of war veterans at the local VFW turns into an all-out battle for survival when a teenage girl runs into the bar with a bag of stolen drugs. Suddenly under attack from a gang of punk mutants looking to get back what’s theirs – at any cost – the vets use every weapon they can put together to protect the girl and their VFW, in the biggest fight of their lives. This action-packed flick from RLEJ Films and Fangoria opens in theaters and arrives of VOD on February 14, 2020. Check out the trailer.

Atlanta’s Buried Alive Film Festival Offers Witches, Werewolves, and Weirdness

The 2019 edition of Atlanta’s Buried Alive Film Festival is chock full of outstanding, outrageous horror features and shorts from around the world. The fest is scheduled for November 13–17 at 7 Stages Theatre. Following are the features that I am most looking forward to seeing, either for the first time or once again. My thoughts in italics follow the fest’s official descriptions for each film. Antrum: The Deadliest Movie Ever Made Dir. Michael Laicini and David Amito – USA – 95min Antrum, a feature length film shot in the late 1970’s, is cursed. In 1988, a movie theatre in Budapest that was screening the film burnt to the ground, killing the 56 people who were in attendance. This incident follows the inexplicable deaths of a number of film festival programmers that had received Antrum as a submission and died shortly after watching the film. These events culminated with a riot during an exhibition in San Francisco, after which the

First Images Are Here From Action-Horror ‘VFW’ Starring Stephen Lang

Joe Begos has been a busy man. His soon to be released film Bliss will be unleashed this September, and he has already moved on to his next project, VFW. His action-horror flick VFW is being described as “The Wild Bunch meets Night of the Living Dead.” We’ve got the first three images that tease that there will be A LOT of bloodshed. VFW centers on Fred (Stephen Lang) and his military buddies as they defend their local VFW post, and an innocent teen, against a deranged drug dealer and his relentless army of punk mutants. The Vietnam vets have been to hell and back, but this is going to be their toughest battle yet. Lang, William Sadler, Fred Williamson, Sierra McCormick, and Tom Williamson serve as the “good guys” in this flick that also stars David Patrick Kelly, Dora Madison, George Wendt, and Travis Hammer. Max Brallier and Matther McArdle penned the script. Filmed in Dallas, TX, VFW is
