Things Get Too Real In The New ‘Unfriended: Dark Web’ Trailer

Ahead of Unfriended: Dark Web‘s theatrical opening later this month, a new trailer has arrived and it’s pretty creepy. “Unfolding in real-time Unfriended: Dark Web is the most terrifying horror yet from the producer of Get Out, Happy Death Day and The Purge, and the makers of Unfriended. When a 20-something finds a cache of hidden files on his new laptop, he and his friends are unwittingly thrust into the depths of the dark web. They soon discover someone has been watching their every move and will go to unimaginable lengths to protect the dark web.” Written and directed by Stephen Susco, Dark Web stars Betty Gabriel, Colin Woodell, Andrew Lees, and Connor Del Rio. Timur Bekmambetov, Jason Blum, and Majd Nassif serve as producers. Unfriended: Dark Web opens in theaters on July 20, 2018, from Blumhouse.

Blumhouse Announces ‘Unfriended: Dark Web’ At SXSW

Back last October we first reported about Unfriended: Game night, the sequel to 2014’s Unfriended, which Blumhouse somehow filmed in secret. The true title for the film, it was first advertised as an untitled Blumhouse-Bazelevs project then as Unfriended: Game Night, was announced by Blumhouse last night with the new title Unfriended: Dark Web. In the film, “A 20-something finds a cache of hidden files on his new laptop and is thrust into the deep waters of the dark web. From the makers of Unfriended, this thriller unravels in real-time, entirely on a computer screen. A warning for the digital age.” Written and directed by Colin Woodell, Unfriended: Dark Web stars Betty Gabriel, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Andrew Lees, Conor del Rio, Stephanie Nogueras and Savira Windyani.

‘Unfriended’, A Horror Movie About Social Media

The new horror movie ‘Unfriended’ tells the story of Laura Barns, the most popular girl in school, who got drunk and passed out at a party. One of the girls friends captured the entire night on video. Afterwards the friend uploaded the video on FaceBook, and Laura gets repeatedly ridiculed on the site, until she commits suicide. After her death, six of her friends gather on a Skype session to talk on the anniversary of Laura’s death, but suddenly Laura’s account is logged into by an unseen entity. Her ghost is angry and determined to make them pay. ‘Unfriended’ is found footage movie aimed at younger horror fans. The movie has an interesting tag line “Online, your memories last forever. But so do your mistakes.” The movie sounds more like a social media public service announcement than a horror flick. Laura, the main character, is played by Heather Sossaman (‘Hollywood Kills’ and ‘10.0 Earthquake’). Shelley Hennig, who starred in 2014’s ‘Ouija’
