Game Review: ‘The Innsmouth Case’

Choose your own adventure books, remember those? Those fun times where you either choose paths to make the story last a while and remain interesting, or end suddenly with embarrassing choices that say a lot about you. Well, RobotPumpkin Games and Assemble Entertainment have brought back the joys and pains of this reading style digitally in The Innsmouth Case, an interactive story set in the world of H.P. Lovecraft. The Innsmouth Case puts players in the show of a private detective from Boston being hired by a mother in search of her daughter, where the client is from…Innsmouth, the infamous seaside town from Lovecraft’s short story The Shadow Over Innsmouth. While there, players will meet and interview interesting locals, check out the sights Innsmouth has to offer, all the while trying to conduct their investigation. Now onto the game itself. This is new for me as there’s not a lot to really talk about, as mentioned before, it’s a text-based

Game Review: Lovecraft Floods The Streets In ‘The Sinking City’

You thought your daily commute is bad? Try being a citizen of Oakmont, their streets are flooded and things are starting to get crazy, figuratively and literally! Frogwares and Bigben Interactive were kind enough to allow me to experience their game that’s flooding with Lovecraftian horrors like the streets of Oakmont. I present to you, The Sinking City. In this third-person RPG, you take on the role of former U.S. Navy Sailor turned Private Eye Charles S. Reed. Upon arriving at the island, Reed learns that the city is falling into ruin as a great flood has taken place and strange creatures are coming from the flood waters and a mysterious force is calling to those inflicted with nightmares and visions… Onto the game itself!

‘Call Of Cthulhu’ Game: Understanding The Madness

Sometime in 2018, the most anticipated pole playing horror game will bring new cosmic horrors to gamers everywhere, “The Call Of Cthulhu”. The game, from Cyanide Studio, is an adaptation of the RPG boardgame based on the famed short story written by H.P. Lovecraft in 1926 before being published in 1928. Players will take on the role of a private investigator named Edward Pierce as he investigates the mysterious death of an artist named Sarah Hawkins on the mysterious island of Darkwater. As Pierce, players can recruit others to help him investigate different cases on the island in an open-world setting, all the while facing your own sanity as madness slowly grips you. Many fans of Lovecraft’s works pretty much know the background of this tale that’s taking place in the same universe as the original short story but there’s also a strong possibility that some may not be aware of the lore that will be seen in it, to
