Mike Flanagan Adapting Stephen King’s ‘Revival’

The past few years, Stephen King adaptations have filled theaters and streaming services (not that we’re complaining). News has now come via THR that director Mike Flanagan, who adapted King’s sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep, as well as Gerald’s Game, is now adapting King’s 2014 novel Revival. Flanagan will be writing, producing, and possibly directing the Warner Bros. film with Doctor Sleep‘s Trevor Macy also signed on to produce. The novel centers on the relationship between a heroin-addicted musician and a dubious faith healer with a hidden agenda. The minister is obsessed with trying to find a way to communicate with his departed wife and child but ends up reaching a Lovecraftian horror. Back in 2016, it was announced that an adaptation of Revival was being written by Josh Boone while he was working on his adaptation of The Stand, but the film never materialized. We’ll keep you posted.

The cast was rumored to include Michael Rooker, Jerome Flynn, and Joana Ribeiro, among others.
