Special Effects Icon Todd Masters Talks Child’s Play And More In An Interview

I had the honor of sitting down with special effects master and Primetime Emmy Award winner Todd Masters who has been in the special effects industry for forty years and has worked on a horde of projects including Tales from the Crypt, Slither, Skyscraper starring Dwayne Johnson, and most recently Lars Kleveberg‘s new Child’s Play movie. Todd walked me through how Chucky was brought to life and so much more. In the film, Aubrey Plaza plays the role of a mother who gives her son (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll for his birthday, unaware of its sinister nature. Beatrice Kitsos (“The Exorcist”), Brian Tyree Henry (“Atlanta”), Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke (Shameless) also star in the film written by Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury). Mark Hamill voices the killer doll. Horror Fuel: “I have to confess, dolls freak me out. I was exposed to Chucky a little too young.” Todd Masters: “Oh, really? Where are you on the whole Chucky

James Gunn And Elizabeth Banks Reuniting For New Horror Film

Back in 2006 director James Gunn made his feature film debut Slither starring Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games). Now, the two are reuniting for Gunn’s next projects, a horror film. THR is reporting that Gunn will produce the untitled film along with The H Collective. David Yarovesky (The Hive) will be in the director’s chair. Elizabeth and I have been on the same artistic page since we first met when she auditioned for Slither back in 2005. She’s since remained one of my best friends in the world, and I’ve been fighting tooth and nail to work with her again. She’s the perfect partner to Yarvo, the H Collective and myself in creating this very special project,” said Gunn in a statement. Mark and Brian Gunn penned the script for the film which begins production this Spring. In Slither, a small town is taken over by an alien plague, turning residents into mutant monsters. Nathan Fillion and Michael Rooker co-starred.

James Gunn Returning To His Horror Roots For New Film

There’s no question that James Gunn is an amazing filmmaker. Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise proved that to the world. Now, Gunn is gearing up to return to his horror roots as a producer for a still unnamed genre film written by Gunn’s brother Brian and his cousin Mark Gunn, the writing duo behind Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. The film will be directed by Gunn’s longtime collaborator David Yarovesky, the man behind the stomach-churning 2015 film The Hive which had some viewers fainting and puking. Financed by The H Collective who will produce, the film will see Gunn produce under his Troll Court Entertainment banner. Nic Crawley of The H Collective will serve as executive producer. At the moment the plot and cast for the untitled project is being kept under wraps, but we do know that it is aiming to start production in spring of 2018. While the world recognizes James Gunn as the man behind Guardian

Lucas Birnie Seeks Backers For Indie-Creature Feature ‘Were-Wool’

Filmmaker Lucas Birnie is seeking backers for upcoming indie creature-feature, Were-Wool. Influenced equally by the 1981 John Landis classic tale of full-moon bloodlust, An American Werewolf in London, and James Gunn’s 2006 cult splatter comedy Slither, the director aims to, as stated on the film’s Kickstarter page, be “the culmination of a few of my – and what I can only hope are also your – favourite things: love, laughs, lycanthropy, sheep, blood, guts, and more blood.” Here’s a brief synopsis of the story, also from the movie’s Kickstarter page: “Max Pemberton is your average everyday shmuck who has had to give up on his aspirations and settle into a more practical lifestyle in the rural town of Lafontaine with his long-time girlfriend, and local veterinarian, Sarah Ackerman. Fed up with his work as an archivist for the local insurance broker Max makes a last-ditch effort to take charge of his life, that is, until under the light of the
