Movie Review: The Mortuary Collection

Shudder’s horror anthology The Mortuary Collection, directed by Ryan Spindell is heading to Blu-ray this April. We took a look and this is what we have to say. A creepy old man oversees the funeral of a young boy. When the family leaves a stranger enters the mortuary, a young woman. As the two talk, she inquires about the help wanted sign outside. But before he can get into the details of the job she asks for a story. Over the film, he shares three terrifying tales filled with blood and murder. Then the young woman takes a turn, revealing a dark secret. The thing is, she has no idea who she’s talking to. The four segments are connected with a wraparound story set in the mortuary and unfold as the two walk from room to room. The first story is about a woman who is a thief. When she goes trying to see what the party’s host is hiding

When a young girl attends a funeral in an old mortuary, she stumbles upon a secret room full of curiosities where she meets the towering, ominous mortician. He guides her through his collection, sharing four stories of wild, unique, and memorable deaths. Thus begins the narrative skeleton surrounding this delightful, morbid, and clever anthology. Each of the four stories brings us into a fully realized, impeccably designed period piece, moving chronologically from the 1950s through the 1980s. A ‘50s housewife struggles with a mysterious presence in her bathroom; a ‘60s college boy gets a taste of his own fraternizing medicine. Next, a ‘70s husband makes some tough decisions about his wife — all culminating in the ‘80s-set The Babysitter Murders

Josh Mikel Talks About Being One Of Negan’s Saviors And Other Roles In An Interview

I had the pleasure of talking with actor Josh Mikel about many aspects of his acting career, including his role on ‘The Walking Dead’ season 7. He may play a bad guy well, but he comes across as the exact opposite in real life. Not only does he have only positive things to say about his co-stars and directors, he seems to truly love acting and the art of it, not just having his name in the credits. Horror Fuel: “You appeared in the Sundance series Rectify. What was it like to be part of a story about a man falsely convicted and sentenced to death row ?” JM: “While I am interested in the subject matter of the show (I’m very much of the opinion that there is a huge need for prison reform in this country), I think what attracted me to Rectify was more the divine auspices that brought a show like that into the world.
