Merge Games Unveils Cyberpunk Shooter ‘Foreclosed’

Merge Games and Antab Studio have announced that they’re working on an upcoming shooter game that combines the neon-lit aesthetics of a cyberpunk world and the folding pages of a comic book. Inspired by the Deux Ex and Max Payne games along with Frank Miller’s graphic novel Hard Boiled comes the third-person shooter Foreclosed. In Foreclosed, players will take on the role of Evan Kapnos who has had their identity “Foreclosed”, which is like identity theft BUT the person now no longer exists. Face with this, Evan now must fight against the dehumanizing bureaucracy that took his identity before his identity and his cybernetic implants are auctioned off! Foreclosed will visually appear as a graphic novel with interactive cutscenes and smooth transitions making loading feel like it’s not there. Headbang While Killing Demons In ‘Metal: Hellsinger’

Funcom and game dev The Outsiders today revealed their upcoming first-person shooter that pits players against demons while listening to heavy metal, Metal: Hellsinger. Metal: Hellsinger is a Rhythm-FPS meaning that players shoot in time to the music the more effective their shots are plus the more intense the music becomes and let’s face it, when it comes to metal, you want to throw up some horns. The soundtrack for the game is original and will feature vocals from metal’s popular singers, at the time of writing this Matt Heafy of Trivium and Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy are in the game. Each level has its own song that will start off as background music but as players successfully keep the beat by the end of the level the song should become a powerful anthem! The game’s creative director, David Goldfarb, is known to FPS players as he was lead designer to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3, and

Game Review: ‘Beyond Blue’

The folks over at E-Line Media allowed me to take a deep dive into the ocean and discover some of its inhabitants in Beyond Blue, an exploration game that takes players to an atoll with a research team looking to unravel its secrets. The game’s plot centers around a scientist named Mirai who is also a freediver, partaking in a joint research project where new technology is being used along with a diving suit that allows her to stay underwater for long periods. Mirai’s main focus is set on a pod of sperm whales that she’s been following for years but strange occurrences in the ocean seem to be distressing them. Now onto the game itself. Control-wise, they’re easy to learn but the tutorial at the game’s start could use some work but at the same time, you almost don’t even need a tutorial. When it comes to visuals, they’re stellar! The lighting effects are realistic to how it looks

Game Review: ‘The Inner Friend’

The awesome folks over at Playmind gave me the opportunity to experience their award-winning atmospheric psychological thriller The Inner Friend. In this game, players will be taking on the role of an unnamed character (that resembles a child) that journey through the subconscious world of the Shadow, the literal inner-child of the player’s character picking up the pieces of the past and facing past trauma. Since there’s nothing earth-shattering negative about The Inner Friend, let’s get some of the negative points that out of the way first. The game’s length is short, I was able to beat it in about 2 hours or so but I enjoyed every second of it. The controls for the game are a bit aggravating as directing the direction of the character is a bit tedious and there’s no real tutorial, which is alright in the end as you literally only use two buttons and the control sticks. With that, now onto the positives! As

Game Review: ‘Fury Unleashed’

Awesome Games Studio where indeed awesome and gave me the opportunity to give their 2D platforming, shooter Fury Unleashed a try! Taking place in a comic book world, you take on the role of Fury, a soldier that runs and guns through the world around them as they learn more about the origin of their world as well as themselves. The game is quite nostalgic in its gameplay mechanics as you have to jump up and down platforms as you shoot at enemies, anyone who grew up in the 80’s and early 90’s know these types of games. The controls are not very complicated and given some short work you can get used to them fairly quickly. The graphics are quite fitting for this game and flow cleanly making the 2D art pleasant to see. You really are transferred into a comic book-like world with how everything looks together. Each map of the game is set up like a page

Welsh Horror Game ‘Maid Of Sker’ Coming This June

Wales Interactive announced today that their upcoming first-person horror or survival game Maid of Sker will be coming out in June for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Players will be taken back to 1898 where they play as a guest staying at the Sker Hotel where they must survive their stay as they uncover the dark history surrounding the hotel. Players will have to rely on stealth in order to bypass their enemies (known as the Quiet Ones) who will hunt players by using sound, this results in players having to control the character’s breathing! The game borrows heavily on British and Welsh folklore as the game itself is inspired by the Welsh folk-tale of Elisabeth Williams, an 1800’s tale about a woman locked in her room by her father resulting in her dying of a broken heart. Maid of Sker will check players into the hotel this June on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, while Nintendo Switch

‘Destroy All Humans!’ Gets Release Date!

With the recent news of declassified information about UFO’s this is kind of fitting (or ominous) that today THQ Nordic has announced the release date for the upcoming re-release of their 2005 cult classic alien invasion game Destroy All Humans! will be arriving on earth this summer! Play as Crypto-137, a smart-alecky alien sent to a stereotypical 1950’s Earth to cause mayhem while getting instructions from his superior Orthopox (voiced by Invader Zim himself, Richard Steven Horvitz!). Hilarity ensues as Crypto uses an arsenal of alien weaponry and abilities to conquer humanity. Players will also be able to fly Crypto’s flying saucer and use it as a weapon or to just fling cows around with the tractor beam. Much like the “Grand Theft Auto” series, the more mayhem you cause, the bigger the response by the humans!
