Guillermo Del Torro’s ‘Pinocchio’ Comes To Life This Winter

Guillermo del Torro has long had a passion project that is finally coming to life, Pinocchio. The stop-animation film is written, directed, and produced by the brilliant filmmaker who also brought us Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, and The Shape of Water. Based on the classic children’s tale about the puppet who wants to be a “real boy,” the film is co-directed by Mark Gustafson and is likely to be much darker than the movies we’ve seen before about the puppet. The all-star voice cast includes Gregory Mann as Pinocchio, Ewan McGregor as Cricket, and David Bradley as Geppetto. Finn Wolfhard, Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman, Ron Perlman, Academy Award® winner Christoph Waltz, and Academy Award® winner Tilda Swinton also lend their voice to the characters in the film. So, when will we see the film? We’ve learned today that Pinocchio is set to premiere on Netflix in December of 2022!

It was a good time to discuss the idea of being a puppet or being a human, but you know, it’s not in progress.” Sounds like a fascinating idea to me, especially as a fan of del Toro’s unique style. Serious, adult oriented animation is lacking in the film industry, and Guillermo, possessor of perhaps Hollywood’s most uniquely gifted mind,
