Jason Clarke To Star in New Pet Sematary

Reboots and adaptions of Stephen King’s works are everywhere, so it came as no surprise that we reported back in March that King’s Pet Sematary was getting a reboot. News has now come, via Variety, that Dawn of the Planet of the Apes actor Jason Clarke is in talks to play the role of Louis Creed, originally played by Dale Midkiff (interview) in the 1989 movie. Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer, the team behind Starry Eyes, will be directing from the script penned by Jeff Buhler and David Kajgnich. Here’s a look back at the original Pet Sematary.

‘Pet Sematary’ Remake Set To Begin Filming

Back in December, we reported that Paramount Pictures had set a date for the remake of Stephen King’s classic Pet Sematary. We’ve now learned that the film is set to begin filming in Toronto, Canada this May. The writing/directing duo of Kevin Kolsh and Dennis Widmyer, the team behind Starry Eyes, will be directing from the script penned by Jeff Buhler and David Kajgnich. The cast has yet to be announced, but Dale Midkiff, who played the lead in the original seemed optimistic during our interview last week that the remake might be good after asking his opinion. Maybe it’ll be good, you never know.” The story, first published in 1983, centers on Louis Creed and his wife Rachel who have just moved with their two children into a home near a busy road. Soon they learn of a Pet Sematary near their property, where legend has it that animals buried there come back to life. When his daughter’s cat

Dale Midkiff Talks ‘Pet Semetary’, ‘Hell’s Kitty’, And Cows In An Interview

When I got the opportunity to interview Dale Midkiff, I jumped at the chance. I’ll be honest I may have even had a “fangirl” moment while talking with Dale, the star of one of my favorite classic horror films, Pet Sematary. While he was amazing the film, he’s also had so many roles in a lot of great films and series, including “The Magnificant Seven” series, The Crow: Salvation, Deep Rescue, Flight of the Living Dead, “Dexter”, and most recently Hell’s Kitty. Hell’s Kitty is a cameo-filled horror comedy from writer-director Nicholas Tana about a man and his possessed cat Angel. The cast of Hell’s Kitty sounds like a who’s who of horror with cameos from Midkiff, Doug Jones (The Shape of Water), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), Courtney Gains (Children of the Corn), John Franklin (Children of the Corn), Kelli Maroney (Night of the Comet), and Lynn Lowry (The Crazies). Horror Fuel: “You were amazing in ‘Pet Sematary’.

‘Starry Eyes’ Duo Signs On To Direct ‘Pet Sematary’ Remake

With Andy Muschietti’s remake of Stephen King’s IT smashing box office records at $666 million, it’s no surprise that the King adaptions are continuing to surface. King’s Pet Sematary was first adapted back in 1989 by Mary Lambert. Now, Deadline is reporting that the writing-directing duo of Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch, the team behind 2014’s Starry Eyes, are taking a stab at making a new version of the film. Published in 1983, Pet Sematary follows Louis and Rachel Creed and their two young children. When Church, the family’s cat, is run over their neighbor tells them of the land beyond the pet cemetery where when things are buried they come back. Church did. ‘IT’ Director Sets His Sights On The ‘Pet Sematary’ Remake

There is little doubt that the most highly anticipated film of the year is IT. Even though the adaption of Stephen King’s classic is still a month from opening in theaters, director Andy Muschietti has already confirmed that he will be helming the second film that will pick up with the Losers’ Club as adults. But it seems Muschietti and his producer/sister Barbara are going to continue making King adaptions, at least for a while. Their next target, the remake of King’s Pet Semetary, originally released in 1989 and directed by Mary Lambert. We reported back in 2015 that Paramount had ordered the reboot of Pet Sematary. It is unclear what has changed, but the remake has been listed for sale. Muschietti told the Toronto Sun that he is hoping to claim it for his own. We’re huge fans of Pet Sematary. If we can get our hands on that and do the Pet Sematary we want to do, that

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Christina Ricci

Welcome back, my Little Monsters! This week it’s Woman Crush Wednesday in more ways than one. It not only refers to the day of the week, but arguably this wonderful Woman of Horror’s most famous character – Wednesday Addams. That’s right it’s the spooky, tiny, lovely and talented Christina Ricci. Christina is the baby of the family, being the fourth out of four children born to Sara Murdoch and Ralph Ricci. You could say she’s a California girl, having been born in Santa Monica. But Christina actually grew up in Montclair, New Jersey, where she attended Edgemont Elementary School, Glenfield Middle School, Montclair High School, as well as the Morristown-Beard School and then the Children’s Professional School in New York City. Christina was discovered by a critic from a Bergen County paper, The Record, at the age of eight years old, while performing in a school production of The Twelve Days of Christmas at Edgemont Elementary. She wasn’t originally cast
