The theatrical premiere of Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer‘s highly-anticipated reimagining of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary is still a month away. While some witnessed its world premiere at SXSW the rest of us are eagerly awaiting our shot to see the film that is already getting rave reviews. Today, we got word that there may already be another installment in the works, this time it’s a prequel, at least that’s what producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is saying. I generally don’t start thinking about [sequels] until they’re a success. I think if there’s anything here, there’s a prequel. I think if you look at the book, we didn’t cover all that stuff that happens before the Creed family moves in. So, I think there’s a movie there, and I think I’d be particularly interested in doing that, because again, it’s the source material and you are going toward something that also has a lot of crazy, creepy feelings about it.” Bonaventura

The second trailer for Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch‘s new Pet Sematary adaptation is here. Not only does it reveal the history of the burial ground, but it reminds us that “sometimes dead is better.” The trailer also teases that this adaptation is very different from the original. Judging by the footage, this time it’s Louis’ daughter Ellie at the center of the story, not his young son Gage. The film follows “Dr. Louis Creed, who after relocating with his family from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground deep in the woods behind the family’s home. When tragedy strike, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor Jud, setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.” Twins Hugo and Lucas Lavoie star as Gage Creed in the new adaptation that also stars Jeté Laurence as young Ellie Creed. The brand new TV Spot for Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch‘s Pet Sematary declares that “sometimes dead is better”. The TV spot also introduces us to the new Zelda, played by Alyssa Brooke Levine and it may make you sleep with the lights on tonight. Zelda is one of the most disturbing characters ever created. In the original 1989 movie, the sister of Racheal Creed was skeletal, her body twisted from years of suffering from Spinal Meningitis. The first look at Levine in action looks just as creepy. Twins Hugo and Lucas Lavoie star as Gage Creed in the new adaptation that also stars Jeté Laurence as young Ellie Creed. Jason Clarke (Winchester) and Amy Seimetz (Alien: Covenant) star as Louis and Rachel Creed, with John Lithgow as Jud Crandall and Obssa Ahmed playing the role of Victor Pascow. “Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed, who after relocating with his family from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial

When a remake of a beloved horror film is made, reactions will range from optimism to outright bitterness. Personally, I have grown to save all criticisms until I have “sampled the wares”, so to speak. With that in mind, today we horror fans get the first little taste of Paramount’s new adaptation/remake of Stephen King‘s classic novel, Pet Sematary. “Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer are at the helm of this new adaptation, which features Jason Clarke as Louis Creed, Amy Seimetz as Rachel Creed, John Lithgow as Jud Crandall, Jete Laurence as Ellie Creed and Hugo Lavoie as Gage Creed. Now, without further ado, take a gander at the trailer below. Are you intrigued? I know I am.
