Movie Review: Hellboy (2019) Watch in 4DX or Heckle at Home

The Hellboy films by Guillermo del Toro sought out to humanize monsters. His character portrayals were softer and relatable. Hellboy by director Neil Marshall and writer Andrew Cosby instead created a genuinely fun, weird adventure. Hellboy’s filled with blood, gore, bad jokes, and killer visuals. The film aspired to blaze its own trail from the beginning. Telling the Hellboy story differently was the goal. I sought out a different experience as well and saw the film in 4DX. 4DX is a motion picture technology which adds environmental effects. Seat motion, wind, rain, scents, and lights accompany a standard audio and visual movie. The technology debuted in 2009 in Seoul, South Korea. The tech hit the U.S. in 2014, and this would be my first experience with it. The movie takes the obligation to share origin stories seriously. It does what it can to make a new place in the minds of the audience. The opening scene sets the stage for

Death Is Permanent In ‘Song Of Horror’

When you die in a video game, usually you restart from a checkpoint or where you last saved, but many gamers like a challenge, now comes the gaming term that either excites or terrifies players, “permadeath”. Permadeath is a gaming slang term for “permanent death” means exactly as it sounds, when you die in a game that’s it, game over, you must now start from scratch. Most games either don’t have this mechanic as it’s more or less a personal challenge made by the player themselves or in some games like Wolfenstein: New Colossus it’s a difficulty that you can unlock, but for upcoming survival horror game Song of Horror by Protocol Games it’s the game’s main feature. To ease your concerns about the permadeath mechanic in Song of Horror, it’s only permanent for one of 16 playable characters, that’s right, you can control 16 different characters! New ‘Jigsaw’ Posters Paint The Killer as a God Like Figure

It’s been seven years since the last Saw film, and over a decade since the last good one. So yeah, it’s not too surprising that excitement for the newest film in the series, Jigsaw, is reaching a fever pitch. And while we still have to wait a month to see that actual film, Lionsgate has given the gift of some badass new posters. (The Rest) He is everywhere. He is everything. He is everyone. Damn, that’s some scary ass shit. 2010 was a long time ago, where smart phones were in their infancy, and services like “The Cloud” hadn’t yet reached their full potential. Imagine a Jigsaw capable of killing you through your phone, or hacking any of your myriad of gadgets too explode off your face. It’s an interesting idea, and I think the God like role Jigsaw is taking in these posters is at least teasing that; we’ve already seen in the trailer that Jigsaw has started trapping
