Jordan Peele Is Currently In Talks To Remake ‘Candyman’

One of the most iconic horror films to come out of the nineties was Bernard Rose’s Candyman, the Urban Legend tale adapted from Clive Barker’s “The Forbidden” featured in the “Books of Blood”. Candyman, played by Tony Todd, often doesn’t get the respect he deserves, the character is a true horror icon in every sense of the word. I’ll be honest, my friends and I never got to the fifth “Candyman” in front of the mirror that was meant to conjure him. It’s been twenty years since we heard anything concrete about a new installment of the Candyman franchise, but that has just changed. Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Get Out director Jordan Peele is currently in talks to produce another film for the franchise, a remake, under his Monkeypaw Productions banner. No director has been announced at this point, but Rose himself stated two years ago that he would love to make a “proper” sequel with Virginia Madsen returning

Amazon Has Jordan Peele On “The Hunt” For Nazis

Jordan Peele joined the list of our favorite kings of horror last year following his directorial debut, Get Out. We reported not long ago that his next genre feature is titled Us. He also has the HBO series “Lovecraft Country” in the works. Today it was confirmed by THR that his second series titled “The Hunt” is indeed on its way. When David Weil first shared The Hunt with me, I immediately knew that we had to be involved,” said Peele. “It’s cathartic. It’s noir. It’s frighteningly relevant. The Hunters discover that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are living among them and conspiring to

Jordan Peele made his directorial debut with the socially conscious film Get Out. Today, via his social media sites, Peele announced the title of its successor, Us. Us will be the first project under his and his company Monkeypaw Productions’ first-look deal with Universal Pictures. The deal was inked following its box office run that landed it the number one spot on most movie lists and glowing reviews from critics and viewers alike. Peele even scored an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay. While the plot is still being kept under wraps, we do know that the film will open in theaters in March of 2019. ‘Get Out’ Director Makes An Incredible Offer To African American Filmmakers

Jordan Peele’s Get Out is still killing it at the box office, bringing in over $113 million for a film whose budget was $5 million. Get Out is not only brilliant, it contains serious social commentary about the state of racism today. We reported earlier this month that Get Out is only the first of a series of genre films Peele has planned with each addressing a different “social demon”. During a recent interview with Digital Spy, Peele made an incredible offer to black filmmakers. For young black horror filmmakers, if you have a script, reach out and I’ll try to help it get made. MonkeyPaw Productions is my production company and we’re really trying to promote untapped voices in genre.” Films with African American writers, directors and protagonist are few and far between, but Peele is aiming to do something about that. It really is a shame we don’t have more diversity in the genre. There are many stories
