Lovecraft In Spaaaaace! Game Review: ‘Moons Of Madness’

Rock Pocket Games and Funcom have allowed me to play their Lovecraft inspired first-person horror game, Moons of Madness for the Xbox One. Moons of Madness has already been released on PC and received high praise by many before finally being released onto PlayStation 4 and Xbox One today. In Moons of Madness, you take on the role of Shane Newhart, a lowly engineer with a level 1 security clearance working on a station on Mars. After waking from a nightmare and having to get back to work maintaining the facility, things start to go weird…and very wrong and somehow Shane’s past is involved. Onto the game itself: Moons of Madness is heavily narrative-driven and you’re along for the ride, very much like the “Layers of Fear” games, Narcosis, and Observer, where players have to solve puzzles to continue the narration and may have to run away from danger rather than fighting it. With what was mentioned above, as you

‘Moons Of Madness’ Coming To Console

Funcom’s first-person Lovecraftian horror set on Mars, Moons of Madness will be coming to consoles after its successful launch on PC back in October. The game’s developer, Rock Pocket Games delayed the console launch so that they will optimize the game for PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Moons of Madness takes players to a research facility on Mars as one of the technicians who is unaware of the reason the research station is on the red planet but soon discovers that there is something wrong as they began to see things that make them question their sanity as some unknown force has been unleashed on all those on the planet. Moons of Madness will be coming out March 24, 2020, for PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

‘Moons Of Madness’ Gets New Release Date

Previously, I’ve talked about a new first-person horror game titled Moons of Madness, a space exploration game with a Lovecraft twist. A lot has changed since I last shared about the game, mainly the release date changed, but for the better. Rocket Pocket Games has teamed up with Funcom and have set the game’s release around the Halloween season this year! Along with a new release date comes new information about the game. As previously mentioned you play as Shane Newhart, a technician working at a secret research base stationed on Mars. Your job is just tech work and making sure the lights don’t go out and having low-security clearance prevents you from knowing the real reason for the station’s presence on Mars. Soon Shane will begin to see and hear things that aren’t there…or are they? He’ll discover that he’s alone at the station…or is he? Cosmic horrors the likes of which Lovecraft wrote about will make its presence

Martian Insanity In ‘Moons Of Madness’

Norwegian game developer Rock Pocket Games is sending gamers to Mars where Lovecraftian horrors await in ‘Moons of Madness’. The game is a first-person psychological horror story where players take on the role of astronaut Shane Newhart who encounters supernatural events at the first research station on the red planet. The game takes a twist on the insanity element of the game where developers came up with a “Zone-Out” mechanic where players see through Shane’s eyes a mix of Shane’s past, events that have not happened yet or things Shane should not know but now does. These Zone-Out events are to add to the anxiety of the game for players making them question what information they are getting from these unique hallucinations are real or not. Keeping with true Lovecraft elements, when humanity thinks it understands the universe it throws a horrific curveball, exploring the unknown without really being prepared for it, ‘Moons of Madness’ is set to be released

A DOOM-ed Reboot

It’s not actually doomed. I just really, really wanted to make that pun. In fact, it’s quite the opposite of doomed. After years of silence and turmoil about the game, it has finally started to poke it’s head out of the ground. All thanks to Bethesda Softworks for jumping in to publish it. A trailer was released at this years E3, and while no official release date has been set, we should see it within the first half of 2016. It’s still definitely a Doom game, complete with hellspawn, devastating weaponry and oodles of buckets of blood. And with today’s tech, we get badder hellspawn, bigger weapons and that satisfying sound of blood spatter drenching the walls of the UAC facilities. Those of you that have played Doom since the beginning will be glad to hear they are moving forward with a more fast paced shooting game, much like the original. Where Doom3 had us hiding around corners, looking out
